6 Mos PostOp & Bladder Problems

Hello, I am looking for women who still experience bladder pain after 6 months. TAH on June 27,2001. Bladder was attached to uterus. Urologist came to surgery and detached. I still have bladder spasms, the bladder aches when it fills even a little, and I get up everynight to use the bathroom. Never did before.
I had a catscan, ultrasound, scope, MRI and Dr. says nothing unusual. I don't think it is usual to have pain everyday. Just pressing on my incision where the bladder lays is uncomforable. Dr. says give it more time. Anyone else experience this, or should I get 2nd opinion. Thank you, JPennington

I am with you...pain is not usual. I would think it is a sign of some problem this far down the road. I would get a 2nd opinion I think. Is the urologist the Dr. you are referring to in your post? If not, maybe the urologist is the person you need to be seeing.

Just because the tests don`t find something doesn`t mean somethings not right. It just means they haven`t done the right test in the right area yet. Do you have your ovaries? Maybe during surgery things got moved around a bit and you have an ovary pressing on your bladder. I have seen a lady post about that problem. How they tell this I have no idea, but I would continue to persue the pain if I were you.

I will see if I can roust up some bladder ladies for you.

Wishing you healing.

6 Mos PostOp & Bladder Problems

Hello, I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing bladder pain. I know how horrible it is to live with pain.

I have also had bladder pain and spasms continually since my hysterectomy 2 years ago. I was also told to "give it time". I finally went to a urologist and he ran lots of tests and diagnosed me with Chronic Cystitis, which means I have chronic bladder infections that just don't go away. I have been on antibiotics, but as soon as I go off of them then I get the infection back. So although I haven't really found a "cure" for my problem as of YET .... I at least know what I am dealing with. I would suggest that you get a second opinion. Pain is not normal and none of us should have to live in pain. There are also lots of ladies that have passed through The Road Less Traveled that have developed IC (Interstitial Cystitis) after their hysterectomies. (not to say that this is what is going on with you, but it is definitely something to look into.)

Please keep in touch and let us know how you are doing.
