What should I ask my doctor? What should I ask my doctor?

What should I ask my doctor?

I have been having lots of pain on my left side, horrible cramps, and lots of bloating for over a year. Instead of visiting my regular doctor (he was suppose to retire), I went to a different gyn. In August 2010, March 2011, and May 2011 I went complaining of my problems. The first two times an ultrasound was done and the tech saw nothing. The third time, tech saw one fibroid. Gyn told me that this was probably causing my problems. Also said that my uterus has DOUBLED in size since early 2009.

I wasn't comfortable with that, so I went to my usual gyn. HE performed an ultrasound and showed me numerous fibroids all throughout my uterus. He counted at least 7 and said that they were in uterus, in lining, and on stalks outside uterus. One has grown/meshed into my left tube and ovary. Said that uterus was size of 16-18 weeks.

A hysterectomy was recommended. He said that he will try laproscopic, but can't make any promises. The largest at that time (June) was the size of an orange. Left tube and ovary will be removed, but he is unsure on right until he gets in to see.

I go in tomorrow for my yearly and I plan to ask more detailed questions then. I want to make sure that I capture everything, so I wanted some advice. Should I have any other tests done other than ultrasound?

Re: What should I ask my doctor?

It sounds like you've been through quite a lot! Many of us can relate to those pesky fibroids so you aren't alone! Mine were only inside my uterus but I have heard to the kind of fibroids you're dealing with.

I hope your appointment went well! Please let us know how everything went and if you're scheduled for any more tests!
