Had my Pre Op Appointment Today!

It has been quite a few months for me. I was supposed to have a hysterectomy in July but it didn't happen. So I had to go through everything again. I am better for it because my new doctor is AMAZING. It really makes a difference to have that trust.
I had my pre op appointment today for my surgery on the 24th. she said today that I had a lot of scar tissue and she thinks that it is pulling my uterus upward which is causing the constant aching and pressure.. also the pulling feeling. As for the cramps and heavy bleeding, she is still not sure what is going on. I guess we will find out!
She told me she was going to have a general surgeon in with her because she anticipates a lot of scar tissue in my abdominal cavity. She is concerned that things might be "glued" together. ICK! Now I am a little worried because she said my procedure might take 2-3 hours if that is the case.
I have read on here a lot about stress from getting things ready. I think that is what I am experiencing too. I am not too worried about the surgery, just making sure that everything is taken care of before hand. I am almost to a point now where I KNOW it is going to be a wreck (with a hubby and 3 kids) and I should not stress myself trying to make things perfect. I can only do what I can do and that will have to be good enough.
I hope you all are doing well and finding a little bit of peace about all of this. I love the support and stories from everyone.
Blessings to all,
Lori Ane

Re: Had my Pre Op Appointment Today!

I'm glad you found a dr you like better and trust more.

They aren't anticipating scar tissue with me but I'm scheduled for 3 hrs as well on the 25th. I think they over book the operating room time just to be safe.

I've been super stressed about making sure everything is in order but it seems like the more I get done the more that comes up. I'm on my own with 4 kids, a clean house doesn't exist...lol.

Good luck with your surgery, I'll see you on the flip side.

Re: Had my Pre Op Appointment Today!

For my surgery, I did not have too much time to prepare - just 10 days. I did what I could, and let go of the rest. I tried to do what I knew would drive me the craziest when I was down, and also got some food plans in order.

Remember, a clean house is NOT important. What is important is healing. Dust bunnies don't bite, and is a BIG for you for a while. You only get one chance to heal right - so be sure to be the pampered princess

(((Hugs))) to you both, and we will be waiting for you on the other side.

Re: Had my Pre Op Appointment Today!

You can do this. Good luck and I like the attitude that stress will get you no where.
I had adhesions during mine. And i think the general amount of time for surgery is common to be around two to three hours for some who have adhesions and or scar tissue.
see you on the other side. I had a lavh and was in surgery for two and a half hours almost three.
