Re: last minute cancellation thoughts

Right now I think it is the best decision for me~~
Im feeling fine now, but have been through the ringer the last year.. and the pain at times has been unbearable
I started out with pills for heavy bleeding, they worked ok but they were huge and you had to take 12 a day,did that for 8 months~ then had endometrial ablation and D and C, and that worked ok for a couple of months, then went through july ,august and part of september bleeding every day~~ had a couple of days where I thought I would die, and finally went to the Dr and had 2 opinions from 2 Dr's , and they both thought , ok we started small and worked our way up...
I feel fine with the decision, no one knows how they will heal,im about 70 lbs overweight and should lose it, maybe this will give me the motivation I need
thank ladies for all the support, It is so nice to have a place to come and talk to women that will or have been there~~ done that

Re: last minute cancellation thoughts

Few years back I cancelled my surgery. I was sure that I can "control" my fibroids. I was quite successful until now. Pains, positive CA 125, cancer scare. So now when doctor said "you should have total hysterectomy" I listened. Having hysterectomy is not easy decision. It is major surgery. Only you can decide. Ask questions, make a list of all pluses and minuses. Weigh your options. But don't cancel it because you are scared of having it. Trust your doctor. Trust you will find the right answer.

Re: last minute cancellation thoughts

You will find the decision that is right for you. And no one can tell you it is the right or wrong decision. You really want to make sure you are certain before it. Good luck.

Re: last minute cancellation thoughts

Thank you so much to everyone who has helped me with their thoughts. My surgery was scheduled for today and i called and left a message for the surgeon that i decided to try a more conservative treatment first and remove all endometriosis and keep all female organs. He was not pleased and said he would not do it for me and he cancelled surgery. I think because i am 48 he feels its a waste of time and that i should just have it all removed. I was very upset and hoping he would have at least removed endo today. He was refering me back to my gyno and said i should get a second opinion. I feel lke she is going to be upset that we came this far and then i changed my mind last minute for a different procedure. Back to square one. I hope she will still see me. I feel embarrest now to see her.Help any advise ?

Re: last minute cancellation thoughts

Do not be embarassed to call your DR! You need to be 100% onboard with your DR, and you weren't there yet. You can always reschedule surgery, but you can't go back & undo what was done.

I don't personally have experience with endo, but if my memory serves correct I have often read on this site that an Endo Specialist is greatly recommended. Can you seek out such a specialist for a 3rd opinion?

Re: last minute cancellation thoughts

You have to be sure you are making the right decision since surgery is irreversible. If your gyn is upset with you, find another.

The first time I saw my gyn I said I wasn't opposed to a hyster. She pretty much carried on like it was a done deal. But I kept asking questions. We're still pretty sure it is going to be the best solution but I'm scheduled for more tests.

For me, I have tried a few things. Hormones make me sick so I know that isn't a good solution. My problem is fibroids so removing them only may be an option but she is concerned about perforating my uterus so we're going to try to figure out how deeply embedded the fibroids are. If they aren't too deep then I will try d&c with ablation to try to cut the bleeding down and remove the fibroids. If they are deeply embedded then hyster is the next choice. At least I will know that I had looked at or tried my options and had no choice but to continue with my pain and bleeding or get the hyster.

Make sure you are comfortable with your decision before you do something that can't be changed. Trying meds or other things often don't create a permanent decision. If they don't work for you then you can always still have the hyster.

Re: last minute cancellation thoughts

Thank you so much that made me feel better. I am due to see my gyno next week. It will be the first time i see her since the surgeon cancelled my surgery. I am very nervous to see her. It doesn't feel like anyone understands my last minute changes. I hope she is understanding and will try to remove fibroid and endo,if not i will be devastated and have to start over again.

Re: last minute cancellation thoughts

last month, I had a few bad days of severe pain and clotting, before that after an ablation this past April, I had been bleeding for10 weeks straight!!, not heavy but still
now since I scheduled the Hysterectomy I feel fine~~
go figure,do I want to go through major surgery? how many more years until I am through menopause? but Im fine with my decision to have this done.. I dont ever want to have pain like I have had, Im tired of bleeding, and Im tired of being inconvienenced so, that out ways the questions
as my grandfather used to say, Im sick and tired of being sick and tired

Re: last minute cancellation thoughts

I called my dr. several times and said "nope, not going through with it" ... he told me to talk to the surgeon (dr does not do the surgery). The surgeon gave me alternatives (all of which I tried before). I will never say "I want this 100%" who wants surgery that isn't a tummy tuck or higher cheekbones?! lol! I am saying "it is the best for my situation so be it" ...

Re: last minute cancellation thoughts

So they are not willing to operate on you at all what so ever? I thought it was the insurance that cancelled? ITs the docs that cancelled?
