Re: I started my period 4 days before surgery!!

Hi Keveleth1!

Did you call your today to make sure all is a go?

It is a good idea for all women to double check with her own doctor to make sure that being on her period is not an issue. There are some doctors who do cancel and postpone for this reason, though it doesn't happen too often.

Twice, I have gone into OR bleeding as the non-stop bleeding was part of the problem! At both facilities, the staff was very kind and discreet about the whole issue!

Re: I started my period 4 days before surgery!!

Interesting this was on here. I haven't had a period since July, two days from now I am having my surgery. Had a headache all weekend and now I just discovered my body is giving me a "gift" just before to remind me of why I can't wait to have this done. I have a few "tammys" left so I guess I can make good use of them

Re: I started my period 4 days before surgery!!

I started mine 2 days before surgery, and my periods are really heavy. I didn't even tell the doctor. I figured there was going to be a lot of blood there anyway. I guess it didnt pose a problem, because he never said anything afterwards.
I remembered when I got my German shepherd fixed when she was in heat, and they made me pay more to deal with the blood, but I doubt my doctor will do that. My mother in law had an emergency hysterectomy, and she said she was profusely bleeding due to her reasons for getting the hysterectomy, and the doctor never told her it was a problem.

I forgot to ask at my pre op what it was?
