Date Dec 13th for my hyster and bladder sling/check for IC. (children mentioned)

Well, I am bummed it is now the 13th and not the 2nd, but I am glad to have a date and hopefully an end to the pain from endo / adoemoyosis.

Been stressing a little about the what if's.

Like, what if something were to happen to one of my children and then I could not have another. I say that yet I know I would never be able to replace my child, but the thought and fear is there. We have tried forever for another with no luck and more losses and on my 44th b-day I gave up on that journey and decided it was "time for me". Time to not be in pain anymore (5 losses and 4 years of infertility, 2 beautiful girls 6 and 3).

What if sex is different for both my dh and I. I am so use to him hitting my cervix, so use to pain with intercourse but wonder what it will be like once everything is gone? Will it feel the same? I hear the not being in pain makes it better yet the big O can be different.

What if I cannot keep my ovary and have to go into surgical menopause... I worry about getting on hormone therapy and being out of whack for a while. I worry about instant aging effects I have read about, or that the meds I will get on might make my O different and not as good like some of the BCP I have been given to help with the endo.

I worry about the sling and pray it will not cause any additional issues.

I have a few more of course, I am sure we all do and this is normal.

I am also excited... excited to possibly be out of pain. Ecited to not have my period and the pain that comes with it. Excited to not have the feeling of pain with sex. Excited to not feel the adhesions ripping and pulling and the shooting pain of ovulation. I am excited about many things and hope the end justifies the means.

I would love to hear from you guys on your experience and stories... keeps my mind occupied while I wait for December to come along.

Thanks for reading...

Kim

Hi, Kim

All of your fears are normal...we have all had them. It is a scary thing to go through even if we know in our mind it is the best thing for us. You are doing the right thing by keeping your mind occuppied and hopefully the positive stories you hear will also help put your mind at ease.

I had my TAH/BSO in May and I have never felt more FABULOUS I also had endo and even though I knew a hysterectomy was not a cure, I did what I had to do to make me feel like ME again.....and I do.

My recovery went fairly smoothly. I was a slow healer, so mine may have taken longer than some women, but I feel great now. As far as sex, I honestly think it is better now than it has ever been. It doesn't hurt, so I can actually relax and enjoy it for once. I actually reach the big O more easily now, and they are more intense for me....I know everyone is different, but it seems like a lot of us with endo have the same results.

I am on estrogen replacement therapy and it works well for me. I did have some night sweats in the beginning as well as some serious mood swings, but we got my levels evened out and I have no more symptoms at all. Like I said....I feel better than ever in EVERY aspect.

to you in your upcoming surgery. I hope things go well for you and you come out of it feeling like a whole new woman!!! I will be thinnking about you!!!

Traci,

Thanks so much for writing back to me and for sharing! I am so happy to hear the good stuff you had to say and I know there could be some bumps as this is not a cure for the endo. I will be happy to have the adoemoyosis pain gone though, that will be a relief. Looking forward to se with out pain, I cannot even imagine, lol. Thanks again and I look forward to hearing more from the wonderful women here.
