Recovery Time After DaVinci Surgery?

I had my uterus and both tubes and ovaries removed on 9/30. I understand this survey is supposed to have a shorter recovery time, but what is realistic? I thought I'd be up and around by now

Re: Recovery Time After DaVinci Surgery?

I had my da Vinci on July 14. I went back to work at 5 weeks post op. I felt really good at 2 weeks post op tho I tired easily. I was paranoid of a post op blood clot, so I walked alot and drank tons of water. The first few days I would walk for 5-10 minute laps in my house. Or up and down the driveway. At 4 days post op I walked 1/2 mile.... Looking back I think the walking helped everything to heal well.

Re: Recovery Time After DaVinci Surgery?

ZoeMar -

This is sort of my recommendations but I say 2/4 to 6/8 weeks of initial recovery depending on the number of things you had done.

There are a few people who do get through initial recovery in 2 weeks. I had the surgery for cancer so had a few more things done and my surgeon told me right out 6 weeks maybe 8.

Re: Recovery Time After DaVinci Surgery?

I was told 2 weeks, too! I teach, and wanted to start the school year...we started on a Thursday, which was 2 weeks 2 days post op for me~the day was ROUGH...by mid day, I had a lot of pain-which was unusual, I went back the next day...barely made it through the day--again, a lot of pain, and extremely exhausted (a definite change from just the tiredness). I ended up taking 3 more weeks off...the last week I had a bladder infection, which hindered things a bit. Little by little, you'll feel better! I was SO depressed about having to take time off, and not being right up and at em after two weeks. I was resistant to taking time to heal...but it needed to be done. Please take care of yourself, and definitely listen to your body...hindsight is 20/20! lol! Please rest and don't be guided by timelines ;-)

Re: Recovery Time After DaVinci Surgery?

I had Davinci 9/20 and I'm 5 wks post op today. I was going back last week but Dr asked me to wait one more week and then go 4 hr days for a week, so I start my part time tomorrow.

Looking back, I'm glad I took 5 weeks. I have been doing more during the day for the past week and I'm tired, but not in pain at the end of the day. I will update after work tomorrow and let you know how it goes.

The best advise is what you've already read - let your body tell you what to do and what not to do - it will certainly be your best guide.

happy healing

Re: Recovery Time After DaVinci Surgery?

My doc said it would be 2-3 weeks and it took a long time. I pushed myself and ended up in the hospital. You just have to listen to your body and let it recover.

Re: Recovery Time After DaVinci Surgery?

OMG I am having aweful feelings right now. I own a Professional Pet Grooming Facility.

My DNC surgery to remove the fibroids was in July. The doctor I have was pregnant at the time of the sugery and was ready to pop anytime. Sure enough when i was suppose to go back for the post op, she went out on maternity leave. I tried very hard to get the surgery done during August and September but it seemed like I was getting the run around from the OB/GYN clinic. She came back from leave my Dr. promised me that I would back to work and in full force by the middle of November for my the beginning of my holiday rush and won't quit until New Years. After reading everyone's post this is discouraging to me. I told her that any give day I lift an average of 6 pets a day and some days those pets can weight in over 50 to 100 lbs. Most of the times with the bigger dogs I get their front feet on the table then lift them from the rear to get them on the table and then from there I can lift them to the tub.

I have an employee he was suppose to work until the middle of November but now is leaving the second week of November, I've been looking for a replacement but haven't had any luck yet. Now I don't know what to do!
