Surgery date scheduled, but have ????'s

Hi all!

I finally got a call this week with a date for my LSH. December 19th. That's about 7 weeks from now and it seems so far off, seeing as I'm having a "bad" day today and just feeling terrible. I'm so glad though that I've found this site because it's given me peace of mind about the surgery and the do's and don't's that I haven't asked my dr. about yet. One thing that is so bothersome to me is the fact that I have this bloating that extends up to my upper abdomen. I have the achy, dull, almost like I'm going to cramp, but I don't fully. My bowels and intestines are so messed up. One day my stomach bothers me and the next day, my bowels are just gurgling and I'm drinking a glass of Metamucil a day to keep things flowing. When I had my ultrasound a couple of weeks ago on the 14th of October, my uterus was measuring: 9.98 cm length, 7.47 cm width, 6.43 cm HEight, 251.20 cm volume and endo. thickness was 20.60mm. I have a mass of 2.4x1.4 within the thickened endometrium. My uterus is anteverted with numerous fibroids being seen in the myometrium. One fibroid is 2.3x2.7 cm posterior and one is 1.8x1.3cm anterior. My dr. said my uterus was about the size of a 10.5 week pregnancy. Can someone tell me about these measurements and if it's commons to have the bloating in the upper abdomen along with just generally tired of feeling blah. Btw, I've been anemic for almost a year and i"m on a good iron tablet but my hemoglobin is just a tad low at 11.5 g/dl and hematocrit at 34.6%. Any insight or help in figuring out these numbers and where the fibroids are at exactly would be helpful. I've searched on the internet and found too many things!!!! LOL
Thanks to all you wonderful sisters!!!

Re: Surgery date scheduled, but have ????'s

I can help with some of this.

A cm is a centimeter, and a mm is a millimeter. One centimeter is a little smaller than a 0.5 inches. A millimeter is 0.1 centimeters. The volume measurement is probably in cc or cubic centimeters.

Posterior means towards the rear, and anterior is towards the front. "Anteverted" means your uterus is pointed towards your abdomen. The myometrium is the outer layer of the uterine muscle.

Here is a medical library resource.

Regarding the bloating, you may want to talk to your doctor about this, as well as your feeling of lethargy.

(((Hugs))) to you....
