Thyroid problems and hysterectomy

Hi ladies, i had my thyroid removed when i was 29 and i am now 38. i have been depressed and unfocused for nine yrs. i can't stay on track with anything and not sure in what direction i am headed in life. i start school to become a RN (something i have wanted to do all my life) and will start off good and then crash. i thought it was due to my fibroids and heavy cycles. but i had my hyster and i still feel the same. i have both my ovaries. i was taking Synthroid 100mcg but it just don't seem to work. i see my general doctor for this but i wanted to know about this Armour and SAMe. should i mention this to my doctor? please help, i am driving my husband, two daughters, and myself crazy. o i had my hyster on Oct 11, 2011

Re: Thyroid problems and hysterectomy

I'm not in the know on Armour and SAMe so can't help there. You're still really early post op so you might feel better in a few wks. But I'm wondering, have you had your vit D checked, and have you been screened for depression. Both those issues have caused me problems, esp when my vit D was way low. It's an easy blood test. I haven't found adjusting my thyroid ever made me feel much different. Also, since you had fibroids, are you anemic? Those are all questions for your Dr. Other ladies here take Armour and perhaps they'll see this and be able to help. I hope you feel better soon.

Re: Thyroid problems and hysterectomy

I was taking thyroid medicine for over 20 years before I switched to Armour Thyroid. My dose went from 175 down to 60mcg, and I feel much better on the Armour.

I also take OTC Vitamin D, 2000mg each day. Don't know about the Sam-E.
