Re: Bowel prep questions

Well, thanks for asking this! I guess this gives me a little bit of a heads up what I will be doing on Sunday! No church for me that day as our services don't start until 1 and end at 4.

Good luck Hope! I hope things start moving for you very soon!!

Re: Bowel prep questions

I have to take a full bottle of magnesium caltrate as well. I am going shopping in the morning- final house cleaning and packing a very small bag for the hospital and will take my bottle at noon and indulge in my clear liquid diet. Tonight is hibachi night and I am going to enjoy that because who knows when I will have a regular meal again

Not looking forward to spending the night in the bathroom, but not sure what else to do at this point. Will they not do the surgery if I haven't gone potty??

Oh, and I took the kids out trick or treating and we walked for almost 2 hours! I was hoping the walking would get things moving some I'm drinking like crazy now in hopes it'll start working. I feel kind of yucky just from not eating all day and the yuck of the mag citrate, but otherwise, doing okay. Who'd think this would be my biggest fear the night before my hysterectomy!!??

Oh my I hope you finally went before your trip to the castle. In any event good luck on your big day and check in with us!

Re: Bowel prep questions

Stay close to a bathroom and don't be scared of the mess!!! I kept Lysol wipes in there!! I don't want to scare you but it wasn't pretty!!!!

By the way, the bowel prep was worse than the procedure!!!! You'll be just fine, Quadma!!!

Re: Bowel prep questions

I am drinking my citrate as I type this and I chase every gulp with gatorade. I purchased lil containers of jello, chicken bouillion cubes, popsicles and varies water, gatorades and juices for the day. I purchased me a beautiful deep red new comforter set for my bed that THE DUDE is going to put on my bed while I am in the hospital. When I come home it will be to a brand new JUST FOR ME bathroom and a new bedset I am excited to say the least

Re: Bowel prep questions

quadma69,
I am off to the castle tomorrow too !
I did my mag citrate bowel prep yesterday, and started clear liquid diet yesterday as well. I am still 'going' today. The nurse tells me this is normal...and I am going to be really cleaned out by tomorrow. I am just surviving on jello, gatorade, and broth.
Remember to drink PLENTY of water though. This prep is pretty dehydrating

I got the grape flavored mag citrate form walgreens and chased every big sip with apple juice. It was not too bad to get down, but it is now just annoying to still keep running to the bathroom, and being on a clear liquid diet today as well!

Oh, well, this will soon be over, and I wish you all the best!

Re: Bowel prep questions

quadma69...what a bummer have you heard any tummy grumblings yet? It took me about 50 min to start things moving, and it just kept on going all day and even into today, but with a few hours in between trips (mostly).

I remember reading a post by someone else that it took them a little while to start, but once they did, they were tethered to the bathroom for a couple of hours and then it was over!
I dunno....maybe call your doctors office and see what they think. Perhaps some black coffee or tea might start things moving?
Good luck, hope you dont have to wait too much longer.
