Surgery Friday Yikes!

Wow it doesn't seem possible that I scheduled this surgery six weeks ago and it is already upon me. Had my preop appointment at the hospital on Friday for all the fun stuff, and go in tomorrow to see my Dr. for the final instructions from him. Has anyone had a davinci hysterectomy with ovaries removed also? Did you have to do a bowel prep or any certain special diet leading up to the surgery?? I have seen a few posts about that but wasn't sure if that was for a regular c-section cut hysterectomy. Just trying to prepare myself for what he is going to discuss with me tomorrow!!

Have a great day everyone!!

Re: Surgery Friday Yikes!

I'm scheduled for the same thing next week - I've heard that everyone has to do the bowl prep and clear fluids the same before. Post what your doc says as I don't see mine until next week.

Re: Surgery Friday Yikes!

I just had the davinci 17days ago, and I did not have to do any bowel prep... just the regular pre op stuff. no food or drink after midnight was all I was told. I had all my girl parts removed!! I feel totally fine and pretty much back to normal physically. Get tired out a little easier than nrmal but that is to be expected. Just remember to take it easy and good luck with your surgery!

Re: Surgery Friday Yikes!

Hi Kristy! I just had my daVinci surgery last Friday. I kept ovaries because of my age (35), but did bowel prep for the surgery. Hope yours goes as well as mine did.

Re: Surgery Friday Yikes!

I had the di Vinci Sept. 27th, and had to do a bowel prep but no liquid diet. I think it just varies on what each Dr prefers. I had everything removed ovaries too. Good luck to u!!!:-)

Re: Surgery Friday Yikes!

How funny-- my surgery is at the same time!!!! Arrive at 5:30 and surgery for 7:30!! Did the hospital/doctor give you this antibacterial soap to shower in the night before AND the morning of! UGH I am so not a morning person and now not only am I getting up way earlier than I normally do, I have to get up even earlier to shower AGAIN!!! LOL the pains we women go through

Thanks for all the reviews ladies. I will find out today if I have to do the wonderful prep or not. Hoping for the not but also might be a good idea to do it because I do have problems in that area and don't want to come home and not be able to go :-)

Re: Surgery Friday Yikes!

Hi there Kristy, No they did not give me any anti bacterial soap but told me to use like dial or something like that the morning of my surgery. Good luck with the Pre-Op and your surgery. I am not a morning person either so I have to make sure I go to bed real early thursday night!
