Hot Flash question

I had a laparoscopic supra-cervical hysterectomy in April of this year for endometriosis and chronic pelvic pain. I'm very happy with the results of the surgery, but unfortunately my ovaries started to cause severe pain every month in a nice cyclical way and were getting progressively worse. I am now debating just having them out.

In September my Dr. put me on Synarel and bio-identical HRT so we can try out menopause prior to just taking the ovaries out. I think I'm getting pretty close to a good balance, but I still have several hot flashes per day. They are not severe anymore, but I'm wondering does having even 6 or 7 smaller ones mean I just haven't gotten enough estrogen yet? I take 1mg in the morning and 1mg at night. I was having a "weeping session" every afternoon if I took the 2mg together and major hot flashes with less than 2mg. I just feel like more than 2 sounds like too much?

Anyone here have experience with this?

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Re: Hot Flash question

I guess 6 or 7 hot flashes seems like a lot, but it's subjective, and how you feel overall. I had at least that many for years and was OK with it. Then after my BSO (oopherectomy) I got more symptoms and it wasn't OK any more. So it sounds like you have symptoms despite your HRT. I don't know about those doses so I'm not sure if more is an option, or maybe another delivery system. Sometimes if it seems your dose is maxed out, changing systems works better. A lot of it is trial and error to see what it takes to get the right balance. Good luck with your decision.

Re: Hot Flash question

Thanks for the input! I see my Dr. on Monday so I'm going to ask him if changing the method of delivery might make a difference. You are so right it is just a tiral and error process to get the perfect balance.
