Reminder

The Pillow Police are reporting an influx of post-op initial recovery violations and have requested that this be posted once again.

Three Weeks After Surgery

‘Twas 3 weeks after surgery, long gone from the castle
This resting is beginning to be a big hassle
I vacuumed the living room with ease and with care
In fear that the Pillow Police soon would be there

The beds were all made, all the laundry was done
If I have to admit it, doing that was no fun!
With me in my leather coat, having a ball
I’d just gotten back from a big sale at the Mall!

When all of a sudden I felt something weird
My tummy was hurting! My eyes, now they teared!
Away to the medicine cabinet, like a flash I flew
Fell into the table, tripped over my shoe!

I should be all healed, I should be all better!
I’m a Princess, I followed doc’s orders to the letter!
Then I remembered that Hyster Sisters call,
“Beware of the post-surgical 3-week wall!”

I looked at my post op instructions once more
And realized why I was now feeling so sore!
“No lifting, no bending, no dancing, no fixin’
No Comet for cleaning, no boudoir mixin’ “

I guess I forgot since I was feeling so great
Now it’s back to the couch to recuperate
Instead of causing my healing to be hampered
I’ll put my crown back on and rest, and be pampered.

As I heard my Doc say as he hung up the phone
“Your Hyster Sisters are with you, you’re never alone!”

Oh, me!

Thank you for that timely reminder, Toonces! Today I am exactly 3 weeks post-op and am afraid I felt too good this A.M. that I am now paying this P.M. I was okayed to drive at 3 wks, so I must admit.....I've been AWOL all day. I am way tired....and yes, I know why. I promise I'll do better tomorrow. It is hard to lay low when everything feels so much better and the house seems to get smaller and smaller each day you're in it. End of confession. Just don't tell my DH or Dr. I am so glad I have hyster sisters out there going through this with me.

Thank you for the reminder and the poem! Being new to this site I had never read it before, but I am ashamed to admit that I, too, was beginning to feel "invincible"! I even went to work today for a couple of hours, but at least had the good sense to come home and rest for three hours and actually slept!! Thank you for continuing to remind us! Obviously, we need it!!!

Toonce, thanks so much for the timely reminder! Whether just home from the hospital, three weeks post (the dreaded wall!), or 5 weeks post (and looking at the time to go back to work - UGH!) - it is still the initial recovery and time to lay low! As I read on one post, let all the pampering the family does be their present to you!

But I don't wanna hit that 3 week wall! I'm getting better and better and it's getting harder and harder to be good. The biggest no no I do is sit at the computer down here in the living room...my desk chair does recline though.

I think my dh has secretly been talking to Chow, Toon and Kaatie! But that's fine with me, I'll be good and be pampered until he gets sick of me. LOL

s and lots of love to my wonderful sisters and .
