How long before jeans?

I was wondering how long it took before some of you post-op sisters could wear your jeans? I am scheduled for a RALH or DH on January 3rd and return to classes at a university 2 weeks later. I am already making plans for a rolling bag for my books but just realized I may not be ready for my jeans. I don't want to look like the frumpy old lady on campus. Can someone fill me in?
Thanks,
Gardenfun

Re: How long before jeans?

After my TVH I didn't wear jeans for about 4 weeks. Anything tight was uncomfortable.

Re: How long before jeans?

I had the DaVinci and I was in my jeans at one week (although still snug). By two weeks, they were comfortable.

Re: How long before jeans?

I had a TAH and just wore jeans for the first time yesterday at 8 weeks post op. Felt good to take them off after 8 hours.

Re: How long before jeans?

It has been three weeks since my surgery and I wore jeans at exactly the two week point. Not because I wanted to but because I had to but thankfully only had them on a couple hours and then took them off as soon as I got home. I am also going to school and have just been wearing my cute VS sweats to class.

Re: How long before jeans?

This may not work for everyone, but I have been wearing maternity jeans and long tops. Someone else on this site had recommended them and they've been helpful. I had an SAH and at 11 weeks, I'm still sore and have a lot of swelling. However, with the style of maternity jeans with the front stretch panel, there's no heavy fabric on my incision and they accomodate any swelling. I grabbed 5 pairs at Goodwill (U.S. used clothing store) when it got colder and they have been helpful. I did find 3 pairs with the more current boot cut style, so there are fashion options.

What a great idea and I love that you got yourself some bargains at Goodwill.

Re: How long before jeans?

It will really depend up on your personal surgery.

One week after my TVH, I wore my low cut Levi's to dinner. It was do-able for that length of time, but not comfortable. The next time out, I wore NYDJs that come up to my waist. Those were more comfortable and worked for a longer period of time.

If you find you need it, there really are sweatpants or aerobic pants that would be very comfy and very cute. (I'm assuming you are a student. If you are a teacher, there are nice long sundresses that can go over long sleeved shirts, if it gets cold.)

If you find you have to change your style, remember ATTITUDE! No one needs to know why you decided to wear bright pink sweatpants instead of jeans that day! You just did - and you'll look great doing it!

2 weeks? Ugh,,,, I had that procedure on the 21st of October and I couldn't imagine putting on a pair of jeans!!
I feel so bloated and I'm SCARED TO DEATH of damaging my stitches.... Even my ugly sweatpants that I now live in are, in my opinion, too tight for me. I give you credit! I'm afraid to do anything.

I didn't have any external stitches. Just glue and it came off at about 1 week post op. I'm sure that makes a difference, I wouldn't want to have anything rub on stitches either!
