Re: How long before jeans?

Wow, sure do hope I can get back into my "normal" pants by 8 weeks. We will be heading to the caribbean on a cruise 2 months afterwards also. I have lost 40 lbs since our last cruise and have all these cute outfits and bathing suits to wear! Plus when I go back to work, all I can wear is jean (work outside).

You should be fine by 8 weeks. I'm just about 10 weeks post-op and have no problem wearing any kind of pants. Been wearing them since week 8. Never thought I would ever reach this point but it does feel so good!!

Re: How long before jeans?

Thanks! I'm just worried about the little black dresses I bought for formal night. They look perfect now! If need be, I'll buy some spanx!

Re: How long before jeans?

I know everyone is different, but I am very thin and after my last laparoscopic surgery for endometriosis, I had such intense bruising that I didn't wear anything without an elastic waist for 8 full weeks. I admit I am a huge baby so probably not so long for other people. But it wasn't even the incisions, it was my belly button where they had their instrument pressed in so hard that it caused deep bruising. With no layer of fat there, my muscles were extremely sore and even the seat belt hurt me much less jeans.

That's great!
I am a little bit envious though!
I am 11 weeks post TAH/BSO and have a long vertical incision. I can get into my "old" pants at the beginning of the day, but I know that by the end of the day I'd be in pain, especially around the belly button area. I swell up during the day anyway, but even more so if my pants are tight.

I really hope the day will come when this business stops! I'd like to get into my summer skirts soon (I'm in the Southern hemisphere!) but they are too tight around the waist and I don't want a whole new wardrobe
Normally I'm quite thin, and I AM thin everywhere but my belly!

This is exactly what I am wearing at the moment and this has been my comfy answer to work clothes!

I got some leggings that are 2-3 sizes too big around the waist and I wear them under a normal size tunic top (I bought 4!!). The tunics come down to mid-thigh or longer, and since they gather under the bust or loosely around the waist, they cover the fact that the leggings are large-waisted. So, I'm supremely comfortable at work in my sitting job AND the ensemble looks smart.

I have the bikini cut so I'm sure that makes a difference. I do have to say though depending on what I'm doing during the day that "swelly belly" does come to visit sometimes!

If you find you need it, there really are sweatpants or aerobic pants that would be very comfy and very cute. (I'm assuming you are a student. If you are a teacher, there are nice long sundresses that can go over long sleeved shirts, if it gets cold.)

If you find you have to change your style, remember ATTITUDE! No one needs to know why you decided to wear bright pink sweatpants instead of jeans that day! You just did - and you'll look great doing it!

LOL My boss was wonderful while I healed from surgery and allowed me to wear sweat pants or pajama pants to work. Reading that comment made me think of my grey pj bottoms with a pink stripe down each side. I wore them proudly with my navy blue collared shirt.

Re: How long before jeans?

I had my TAH 21st June and wore my waist high jeans home from hospital 7 days later, even now 5 months later I would find it hard to wear low cut jeans. I actually found the support of the waist high jeans to be great
