Low Tolerance of hormones?

Hi Ladies

I am 34 and having a lap in a couple of weeks to remove my left ovary and maybe my right.

I desperately don't want both removed, but if I have to (due to recurrence of complex cysts) then I would like to know what to expect in regards to menopause, HRT etc.

I have never tolerated any form of the pill. I have tried every one, even the Mirena, and my Dr recently put me on Yaz for 4 weeks prior to my surgery. I lasted 2 weeks before I could no longer take it anymore. It made me so sick and my anxiety peaked.

My question is, if I don't tolerate these, am I likely not to tolerate any hormone replacement therapies? I am so worried that I am going to spend the rest of my life with my head in a bucket or in bed due to my anxiety. I actually feel I would rather have multiple surgeries to remove cysts then live a life of nausea/vomitting and anxiety.

Many thanks

Re: Low Tolerance of hormones?

Hormone replacement after surgical menopause can be quite different than using hrt before. Most do not use YAZ or birth control pills, but rather some form of Estradiol.

You can read more about your options at www.hormonejungle.com Discuss your options with your doctor.

Re: Low Tolerance of hormones?

Oh, if I could turn back time...your very young to have both ovaries removed, and if you were having trouble tolerating meds/hrt now, sure it will be 100% worse..that is what happend to me. After my hyster, I cant even tolerate alot of my medications that I never had an issue with before my hyster, and now Im bedridden. Ive tried every form of HRT just about..even the lowest doses have sent me to the ER. Its been over 5 years and I lost almost all my hair, skin sags, muscle, extreme stomach upsets, chronic yeast all over..daily migraines, mood swings, anxiety, all which I never had before..im still working on trying to tolerate some form of estrogen. I would only have this done if it was cancer or life threatening..i would do anything to save your ovaries. I would gladly take my cysts/endo back than deal with all this... This is just my opinion though...good luck whatever you decide.
