Cervical Pressure from Fibroids

Has anyone else experienced constant cervical pain/pressure from fibroids? Seems like every day is a new adventure with new problems but the latest is making me lose my mind! It constantly feels like my uterus is trying to escape. Does anyone have any tips on relieving this pain? I'm about ready to reach up there and yank the whole works out myself! I am still 35 days away from surgery. Thanks! :-)

Re: Cervical Pressure from Fibroids

Hi Lokilator

Although most of my fibroid pain and pressure affected my bladder and intestines, I do remember the sensation you describe a few times.

The only thing that helped me with any of the pain was medication--mostly ibuprofen. I also found that it helped to lie down as soon as I got home from work. Being horizontal for even just 20 minutes or so seemed to shift how/where I felt the pressure, and it's part of what got me through the last month before my own surgery.

Be sure to ask your doctor for suggestions, too. Mine prescribed something a little stronger than over-the-counter medication that helped some.

Re: Cervical Pressure from Fibroids

Thank you Fritzi64. Lying down does help a bit. I have been taking Tylenol w/codeine every few hours for about a week now. Now I am starting to second guess my diagnosis and am wondering if it is adeno not fibroids. Not that it matters as the treatment is the same - bye bye uterus! Either way pain pills and rest seem to be the best solution until then. I think this will be the longest month of my life!

Re: Cervical Pressure from Fibroids

Hello Fellow Canadian,

Not sure if it's the same pressure you're feeling but I feel very frequent cramping, like menstrual cramps but won't bleed. Taking Ibuprofen helps me as well. I also try deep breathing exercises (if you're not in too much pain) - it helps calm the whole body.

Re: Cervical Pressure from Fibroids

Thx SunnyLizzy. Ibuprofen does nothing unfortunately. Believe me I have tried! There isn't any cramping just constant pressure and dull pain. The cramping only happens when I have my period. (Joy-haha). Deep breathing does help though - especially with the frustration! I tend to be so frustrated I forget the breathing. Thank you!

Re: Cervical Pressure from Fibroids

Once in a while I have a very sharp stabbing pain that seems to be from somewhere near my cervix. Luckily, it generally passes pretty quickly so I don't take anything for it.

Lately, I've spent a lot of time lying down. I have a lot of back pain that seems to be getting worse. Also a crampy feeling that ranges from annoying to painful. Bloating and gas seem to be my constant companion.

I go on Thurs for a sonohistogram to take a better look at what is going on but at this point, I'm totally ready for a hyster. I'm tired of feeling so horrible. I think my iron is better but I still am tired all the time.

What you are describing sounds like what I dealt with a few days prior to surgery. Almost felt like I was in labor.

The pain got so intense that all I could do was cry.

Ended up calling my Dr's office and cried.
I guess that was all they needed.

They ordered me a lower dose narcotic (5mg vs 7.5 mg that I came home from the hosp with).
The narcotic worked GREAT!

I took it only 3 times in the days prior to the surgery.

Re: Cervical Pressure from Fibroids

Im soooooo glad im not the only one having same symptoms. I was beginning to think this dull pain was something im imanging. Although I know the ultrasound shows im not..... this is what really gets me when I sit, it feels like I have pressure under rib cage area..... lime there is something there, its just so uncomfortable. The pain in my lower back and side are usual the dull ache..... and I only get the sharp bad pains occasionally. Anybody else experience this???? And now seems like that sicatic nerve is acting up.... but I think it has something to do with these cysts ..... sorry to rant. I only have few more days till TAH (Nov 15) so hopefully all will be gone...... thanks for listening ...... good luck to u all!!!!!

Re: Cervical Pressure from Fibroids

I just found out I have 4 very large fibroid and will have a TAH on Jan 3rd. This explains a lot of symptoms I have been having: heavy feeling in my uterus, especially when sitting, swelling in lower abdomen, feeling like I have to go again immediately after a BM (even had a colonoscopy earlier this year for fear it was colon cancer), fatigue, back pain, sciatica symptoms (had physical therapy for that a year ago). I'm still trying to sort out which symptoms are due to the fibroids. Guess I will know after my TAH!
