HRT Or NO HRT

Its been also 4 months since my Radical Hysterectomy due to cancer. I am not taking any HRT and alittle concern due to being only 45. I keep reading about bone loss and memory loss. I really feel better than I did since, my weight is good, skin is good, no hair loss, only problem I have is hot flashes at night. I do try to avoid caffiene, sugar and spicy food. Should I take HRT for the other reasons. Really concerned with future problems due to lack of estrogen. I had my FSH and it was 65.7. Also have low vitamin D and borderline amemia. Any advise would be very helpful.

Re: HRT Or NO HRT

I had my hysto for cancer too. At first I couldn't find an MD who would prescribe HRT,after cancer. Finally found one who participated in a study on HRT after low grade cancer. I've been on it about almost a year.
Mentally it really helps, especially with sleep. Not so sure about the other, I was recently diagnosed with osteoporosis.

Re: HRT Or NO HRT

Why did you decide to go on HRT? So even with being on HRT you were diagnosed with osteoporosis. Did you have any symptoms?

Re: HRT Or NO HRT

I took HRT in my 40s due to early (natural) menopause, and stopped when my symptoms subsided. I was off HRT for about 5 years. When I had my hysto (age 51) it was like menopause all over again. Chose HRT for the usual reasons, insomnia, vaginal dryness, my emotions weren't predictable, I didn't feel the same as I used to.
Surgical menopause is alot rougher than natural.
I had a baseline bone scan at age 44 due to early menopause, another at 49 and another this year. Only the current one showed osteoporsis. The previous ones did show slight osteopenia. My current MD was a little vague in it's treatment, so I'm going to a get a 2nd opinion at an osteoporosis clinic.
