Got my surgery date and monsoon of tears has begun (kids mentioned)

Well after waiting two weeks to hear back from my doctor's office, I decided to take the bull by the horns. I thought I would have more control if I booked the date and could begin planning and preparing for my trip to the castle. Boy was I wrong! Instead, it has turned into a boo-hoo day, complete with a fifteen minute weep when my husband looked at my laptop and said "What do the sisters have to say?" And I swear, it's the longest my husband has ever seen me cry. I listed every dumb reason that I'm worried about this surgery and I'm not a worrier, my first response to people who worry is to say "Don't go borrowing trouble!" So I have no clue why I feel the way I do, my hubby of course has told me it's normal. But I can't help but worry that they will find something once they do pathology or they won't find anything and then the doctor will be like "you big faking baby" or I'll feel less of woman and god help if they take my ovaries, what if I turn into my grandmother overnight.

But I think it boils down to the finality of not removing the one piece of me that is me that is the part of me that produced my son, my only child. And he's 15, making plans for after high school, so it could be premature separation fears. Who knows? I feel like a fool for crying, especially since my uterus decided to stop working when I was 22.

So hopefully I'm not completely off my rocker and this will get better....

Re: Got my surgery date and monsoon of tears has begun (kids mentioned)

First - Cry all you want. This isn't an easy thing you are going through.

Second - You have a great husband. My husband is pretty supportive of me and my HysterSisters addiction, too. Not all women here are as fortunate.

Third - You haven't mentioned cancer as your reason for this surgery and it's unlikely your problems are cancer related if your Doctor hasn't already suspected it and tested for it. AND your Doctor wouldn't be wheeling you in for surgery if he thought you were a "big faking baby". But you know that already. Sometimes reason doesn't compute. That's OK - it doesn't always have to. You'll get there.

So - NO - you are not completely off your rocker - at least no more than you were before the date was set (wink, wink).

Take care and (((BIG HUGS)))

Oh God - it just hit me

Surgery February 14th. Happy Valentine's Day?
The date seems a long way away right now, but let me tell you it creeps up fast. I scheduled my surgery mid Sept. and now it's NEXT WEEK!

Aaarrrgghhh - I haven't finished all the stuff I had planned to do before hand. Oh well - C'est la vie!

Re: Got my surgery date and monsoon of tears has begun (kids mentioned)

McLila-

Thank you so much for the reassurance. And yes, I know I have a terrific husband, he is my rock. We've been through a bit of hard times already (he's a melanoma survivor) and I'm always blown away by his thoughtfulness when I don't expect or particularly crave it. LOL

The doctor has not said cancer or anything like that, but my mother has a history of fibroids, precancerous cells on her cervix and it worries me a bit. But I'm not going to borrow any trouble.

I've decided to make a list of positives- so bear with me.

Pretty new panties will be in order because they won't get ruined anymore by an unexpected Flo visit.

All of my future V-days will not have to be scheduled around AF! (BONUS!)

The pain will be gone and the bleeding will stop.

And I have another reason to wear my tiara from my wedding, not that I don't already play Rock Band in it and occasionally vacuum the house in it. It's a fabulous tiara.

So I'm going to pull up my big girl panties and keep moving forward with purpose until I get my day at the castle.

Listing the positives is great. I started a post like that a while back and many of the responses were hilarious. There were some "oh yeah, that too" moments for me.

And guess what - New Lingerie was at the top of my list, too!

dkknaebel you have every right to be weepy! I am 52 and just had my surgery on Monday. I have 10 grandkids between the ages of 1 and 17 and before my surgery I was actually getting weepy over babies!! I thought I was losing my mind! I have had NO desire to have any other children for upteen yrs. So you just go ahead and cry all you want! (((hug))) Kudos to your wonderful hubby also!!!

Re: Got my surgery date and monsoon of tears has begun (kids mentioned)

I have to say that I am a little relieved to hear that someone else is having a hard time like I am. I have been a sobbing, anxious, moody mess ever since I got my date. Now that I know when its going to be, I just want it to be done and over with.

I also am planning on some new pretty panties. A little celebration for AF's departure.

Julie- Thanks for the support. Yesterday was a tear free day, so I'm counting that as a victory!!!

Dietjl- I'm already shopping for the pretty new panties! I have a list of my hubby to go get me and surprise me. I'll be released from my restrictions about four days before my birthday. Hopefully it's going to be a great birthday!
