Need suggestions, coming down with cold

I can't believe this is happening, my sinus's are acting up, and I have 2 weeks to get over this I feel a cold coming on, My doc gave me a nasal spray about a month ago, I have a doc appointment for medical clearance on Monday, if I dont get cleared my surgery will be canceled and I've waited way to long. Any help will be appreciated. Cat

The best thing to do is call your doctor as soon as possible. He/she may be able to prescribe something to help you knock it out. You shouldn't take any vitamins/supplements/medicines without your doctor's consent this close to surgery. Doing so may cause your surgery to be postponed. In the meantime, wash your hands, drink plenty of fluids, rest and have some chicken soup!

Give your doctor a call and let us know how you're doing! I hope you get well soon!

I got a cold just before too...
My doc said as long as I could breath and was not running a fever it would be fine...
Liquids would be the best... and rest...
Check with you doc though... Each one seems to differ in the way they do things and it would be a shame to get canceled for a vitamin or cold pill...

Re: Need suggestions, coming down with cold

Thanks I did check with my Doctor and she prescribed meds and wow my sinus's are much better in just that short time. I need time for me, during that crazy snow storm we had no power for 11 days and had 18 family members here with us, we had generator and full house was up and running. The stress of that many people(all smokers) accept me and my hubby, had me sooo stressed, I told DH that the remaining time was for me to be stress free, then my sister in law suggested our home for Thanksgiving, I almost freaked out on her. I told everyone I'm not doing Thanksgiving everyone but her totally understood. Am I being selfish, I don't think so. Funny how others don't really know what were going through and how we feel. I've never had surgery and this scares the, well ya know, so I'm taking this time for ME, after all we are all PRINCESSES, aren,t we. Thanks for the venting I feel almost normal. Cat

NO you are NOT being selfish! Your sister-in-law is the one who is being selfish by trying to push everything off on you and knowing what you have coming up. I'm glad you spoke to your dr and got some meds, now try and relax and take care of you! You deserve it!

Here you go......

your other family (your hystersisters) have officially given you a pass for Thanksgiving.
This journey is about you right now.
You do not need to be concerned about the feelings of others.

And.....
REST is going to make all the difference with your cold symptoms.
Make it a huge priority.

Re: Need suggestions, coming down with cold

I'm the queen of sinus infections and allergies that lead to colds or sinus infections. At the first sign of one, I always start using my saline nasal rinse twice a day. (You can get them at most pharmacies - Neil Med brand - get the starter kit.)

I also drink Traditional Medicinals Gypsy Cold Care tea. LOVE the taste and I honestly believe it really helps.

I also have a nasal spray from my doctor.

Get sleep...lots of fluids...and hot steam filled showers help too.
