Mine are all above the belly button too. I was very surprised about that, but the good thing is my waistband does not touch my incisions. If they were below it would probably be very irritating.

I have a scar in my belly button from a laparoscopy 30 years ago. It used to be a perfect daisy innie, then became half full of scarring - more irregular, but not noticeable at first glance. I have the four scars from a tummy surgery (Nissen procedure) and I hear I will get four more from the da Vinci procedure. I didn't realize they took out the uterus through the vagina! I assume there will be no cutting for me, due to high risk of cancer.

I had the DaVinci and did not have anything removed through my vagina. All through the lap holes (4 total). Depends on your surgeon and your situation.
