Vivelle-dot patch

Hi Girls! I am 5 weeks post-op, have been on the vivelle-dot patch since leaving the hospital. I like the way it is working, but I have one concern... it leaves a sticky residue on my skin after I remove it. I scrub with warm water and soap in the shower, but some of it still stays around. Any advice for getting the sticky off your skin?

Re: Vivelle-dot patch

I use Goo Gone on a cotton pad to remove the extra adhesive, but they also make (expensive) special adhesive removal pads that you can buy at hospital supply stores. After I use the Goo Gone I wipe the area with alcohol and let it air dry.

I hope this helps.

Re: Vivelle-dot patch

Me personally, I was never able to get all the residue off with just rubbing alcohol. I have hyper-sensitive skin so I've been using a product called Detachol, which I understand is used in pediatric cases where lots of bandages, etc, have to be used. I figured if it was gentle enough for kids, maybe it would work for me...and it has. I just put a little on a cotton pad, rub and then shower off. Before I put a new patch on, I clean the area with rubbing alcohol and let it dry. It's worked well for me for 3 1/2 years now.

Re: Vivelle-dot patch

Thanks for all the advice girls! The rubbing alcohol works pretty good, but I will look into Detachol. The vivelle dot is worth the trouble. I had the generic patch at the hospital, it was like a large, foam disk. Horrible! This is worth getting the sticky off.
