All Clear!

Hi, good news! All my margins and lymph node biopsies came back clear. So there's no further treatment for me, at least for now.

Anyone have info on what kind of screenings (pap smear with no cervix?) I might have to do in the future to see if any more cancer cells appear?

Thanks.

Rebekah!!

What a wonderful Christmas present you have received!!
Thats great news, and what a relief I can bet. Its so great when no further treatment is required.

From what I have read here the testing seems to vary depending on the type of cancer, and you could have checkups every 3, 6 or 12 months depending on your doctor. I know some of the ladies do continue to have paps to screen the vaginal tissue. I am monitored through my blood test markers, as well as a pelvic/rectal exam every 3 months...well...actually every 4 months now..since I graduated past the one year mark.

All the best, and I just know you are going to have a wonderful christmas season!!

Maria

All Clear!

It's common practice to have paps done after a hyst for cervical cancer or pre-cancer. It's done to check for abnormalities on the vaginal wall. Actually, they're called "vault smears". My surgery was in January. I had smears done every 3 months until November and am now on a 6 months schedule. I'll have them every 6 months for at least 3 yrs, then yearly. From everything I've read, vaginal cancer is pretty rare.

Congrats on your good test results!

SUCH GREAT NEWS!! GLAD YOU WON'T HAVE TO HAVE ANY FUTHER TREATMENT.

I UNDERSTAND THAT YOU STILL HAVE TO HAVE YOUR REGULAR PAPS. AS A PRECAUTION. I KNOW MY DR. TOLD ME I HAD TOO.

HAVE A WONDERFUL HOLIDAY.

Woo-Hoo!! What wonderful news!!! So glad that you are done with treatments!! As for the paps, keep up on them! Even after a hyst we must be checked for vaginal cancer(rare), vulva cancer (super rare), and if we have ovaries; ovarian cysts during an exam.
