Weird stuff with legs - anyone have this (and did hysterectomy help?)

Lots of lower back pain and sciatica believed to be due to enlarged uterus pressin on my spine/nerves... The last several days, anytime I wake up in the middle of the night, both of my legs are asleep. If I'm sleeping flat on my back -- I'm not sleeping in any manner that I can imagine is cutting off circulation. I'm going to mention this at my pre-op appt on Monday, but am curious if anyone else has had problems with their legs --- and for those on the other side, did the hysterectomy help with that?

I thought it was restless leg syndrome because my legs would feel numb most of time. I also experienced terrible pain my in right knee. After my surgery both symptoms disappeared.

Wow - that is GREAT to hear. Did the dr say anything about uterus size or adhesions to anything that you felt may have contributed to that? I am hopeful that this goes away post-hyst... Did you notice improvement immediately?

Oh my holy heck. I feel like I'm walking around with a bowling ball in my belly. I've expected to hear "Wow, your uterus was 7 oz" after the surgery (and thinking "Dang it, it sure felt heavier!") but maybe I'll have a shock like that! Was the doctor surprised at the size of it?!

LOL, exactly! I knew it was big based of the way my belly was growing but I didn't think it would be that big. The surgeon said it's the biggest she's seen.

Re: Weird stuff with legs - anyone have this (and did hysterectomy help?)

Hi, I also have been having lower back pain the last few months along with issues with my legs. I have an enlarged uterus, aprox. 10 weeks. My Dr. seems to think that my enlarged uterus is causing my lower back pain. I am scheduled for my LSH on 12/1 and really hoping that this helps my back pain. I have my pre-op on 11/18 so it is getting closer and hoping for some relief soon!!

I've been having issues with leg pain too. I have arthritis in one knee, but have started having issues with my feet and ankles recently. I'm hoping to find improvement after surgery too. Stand by for news...
