Pre-op appt yesterday

I had my pre-op appt yesterday. It was nice to chat with the surgeon, she is really sweet. She did a uterine biopsy and that SUCKED! It totally rattled my cage! She said that if she has to cut into my uterus to get it out, she wanted to make sure she knew she wasn't cutting into anything abnormal. It was NOT the highlight of my week.
I feel ok about my hysterectomy (12/1), she said she takes the cervix. I hope that is ok in the long run.....I certainly don't know enough either way. Suppose I will after this! But, I trust her. I just kinda what to get it over with, and get on with my life. Still waiting for my VERY LAST period to start.....while I am not looking forward to that, I know it will be IT!! That is crazy to think about. Don't think I will miss those! She said that a lot of women can go home the night of this procedure (davinci), but gave me the option to stay. I might want to stay...we'll see. So, here's to my last week intact!!!!

Re: Pre-op appt yesterday

Hi! Just wanted to wish you all the best for your surgery! If I may suggest to you ask you Dr to keep your cervix if possible. I am still not sure when I will have my surgery done, but reading a lot about it online! I read that you loose lots of you sensations down there if you have your cervix taken out? You definitely don't want to loose that!
Let me know how it went and maybe we can stay in touch?
Good lunch once again!

Re: Pre-op appt yesterday

Hi, my LSH is scheduled for 12/1. My Dr. suggested that I keep my cervix since I never had any abnormal pap smears. So I would def ask about keeping your cervix. I just finished my last period...Yahoo!! It feels great to know that it will be the last one! I have my pre-op appt on 11/18 which I already know that I will have to watch a video! Sorry your appt was a bit painful. I also need to ask my Dr. about staying overnight which I believe I would like to do. Two week and counting!!!

Re: Pre-op appt yesterday

Just had my pre-op today and the same experience. I was feeling like one of those cartoon cats who "hits the ceiling" during the procedure. Glad I will be knocked out next week for the real deal. BTW, he is taking everything but the cervix for the reasons mentioned above - as I am low risk for cervical issues and he thinks it is helpful for sexual feeling in the future. Given the big M and lack of libido, I figure I need all the help I can get in that department, so we'll see if he is right or not. Hugs to you.

Re: Pre-op appt yesterday

I think I had that back in February, but my Dr. called it an endometrial Biopsy. You are correct, that was NOT fun at all!! I don't wish to do that again!! It came back fine so I am hoping for no surprises at my pre-op appt on 11/18. Good luck to all!!

Re: Pre-op appt yesterday

I have also had the uterine biopsy, and it was AWFUL!! I don't think they should do that without having any kind of meds.

Yuk, just looked it up online! Looks very painful. We shall see if I need one done.
I have been sent for Urodynamic studies and it was not painful but very uncomfortable. My blood pressure was 160/80 when its usually 110/80.. But everything look ok for my bladder.
Thanks

Re: Pre-op appt yesterday

My endometrial biopsy was slightly uncomfortable, less than a minute of pain - I definitely wouldn't describe it as awful.

Maybe it depends on how many medical procedures you've had and your pain threshhold (eg. I've had an IV line put into my jugular while awake with no meds - THAT was kinda awful...).

Re: Pre-op appt yesterday

I have been told that it was not as bad if you had a child (which I have not). I have a very high tolerance for pain, and it was very painful.
