Hysterectomy needed after Cystectomy

I had a cystectomy/oophorectomy on 8 November. The cyst and my left ovary were removed. The pathology report indicated I had a borderline ovarian tumor (an atypical proliferative mucinous tumor of low malignant potential). I am scheduled for a preventative total hysterectomy (Da Vinci) on 6 January.

I have taken 2 weeks off to recover from the cystectomy. I am still home, and I feel pretty good, but I am glad to have the full 2 weeks. The surgeon who will perform the hysterectomy said the recovery from that procedure will also be 2 weeks.

Has anyone had a similar experience with two surgeries close together? I am thinking I may need more recovery time after the second surgery because they are taking out all my reproductive organs. I am 51 years old and in good physical shape. I would be interested to hear from anyone with a similar experience.

Re: Hysterectomy needed after Cystectomy

Im not in the same category as you but I did have a D&C and polypectomy 3 weeks before my Hyst. and had no issues with back to back surgery.

Good luck with your procedure!
