Pre-Op Appt today

I just had my pre-op with my doctor today and it went well. I had to watch a video which was fun! My dr. asked if I had any questions and I said yes I do as I took out my 2-page list (thanks to my sisters on this site!). At first I was a little embarrassed with all the questions I had so I asked a few of them and he said, wait a minute, that's all the questions you have on those papers?? I said no but not sure if you have the time? He said of course I do now ask away!! He also told me that I had great questions!! So I signed my consent forms and he gave me the run-down on the surgery letting me know all the risks involved. I asked about my 3 previous C-sections and about scar tissue but he doesn't think it will cause any problems. He thinks that my surgery will be pretty simple but warned me there is a first for everything! He also mentioned that he is giving me the option of 23 hours in observation so if I want to stay overnight, I have that option. So the next step is my pre-admission appt on 11/28 and then the big day on 12/1 and I believe he has surgery set for Noon. Getting nervous but also very anxious to leave the heavy bleeding, lower back pain and anemia behind! Good luck to all my sister out there!! Hugs.

Re: Pre-Op Appt today

I am so glad the site's questions helped you out. I hope you feel better informed, and more comfortable with the situation.

Being nervous is normal for any surgery, but especially THIS surgery. As you get closer to the day, you may get even more anxious. That is okay too. Get on this site, and post your feelings and concerns. We are here to see your through this.

Good luck with your upcoming surgery. Remember, we will be waiting for you on the other side.

Re: Pre-Op Appt today

That's wonderful you were able to have a pre-op and ask questions; I didn't get either of those and it was really hard not knowing the answers to anything (apart from what I read here). If possible, it would be great if you do stay overnight just to be safe and have the support if needed. I hope it all goes really well for you

Thanks!! Of course along with my asking questions, he had to fill me in on the risks and the worst case scenarios!! So I guess it can be good and bad?? I agree, it would be nice knowing I had the support because if I do go home, I know I would feel guilty lying around when my husband was doing everything! Hugs.
