getting close and not sleeping, ugh

I think I have been managing my anxiety pretty well these past weeks. Started to go "up" after my pre-op when the doc said we need to take the ovaries and now that I am facing my "last day eating" before Monday bowel prep and Tuesday surgery, it is on my mind 24 x 7. Going to church and then clean the house like a madwoman to fight it off today. I think it is worse because I am not sleeping well, but I keep remembering that the pain meds will have me sleeping like a baby in a couple days, LOL.

*Gentle hugs* Kcdoodle!!
I hope going out today to church eases your mind a little bit! I know for me, the last two weeks before surgery I was a total basketcase, thought about it 24x7 and didn't sleep that well either.
You're right though, the pain meds will have you good and knocked out for a couple of days!
I'll be thinking of you on Tuesday, here's to a successful surgery and an uneventful recovery (with lots of sleep and less worry)!!

Re: getting close and not sleeping, ugh

I feel your pain. I stared at the ceiling til mealy 2 am last night. I am blaming the 2 cups of coffee I had after dinner, but I know that's not all of it. Must get my workout in today. I always sleep better when I do.
I hope you get some rest, and your right, it won't be long before it's over and you can sleep all day long if you want too.
Best wishes, and sweet dreams!

Re: getting close and not sleeping, ugh

These days just before surgery are very nerve racking indeed. It is hard for your mind not to constantly turn to what is ahead. That is okay. This is much to digest. It is good that you are cleaning and prepping the house for your downtime.

Good luck with your upcoming surgery...

Re: getting close and not sleeping, ugh

My surgery is Nov 22 robotic vaginal uterus and cervix removed. I have fybroids and endometriosis and always anemic. I am a basketcase-so scared about the surgery. My kids are 3 & 4 and I need to heal and get back home. Am I doing the right thing by having surgery??? Someone tell me it won't be so bad!!!

Re: getting close and not sleeping, ugh

Hi EllaAngel, have you gotten another opinion or consulted a minimally invasive surgeon? There are treatments available for endometriosis and fibroids that do not require a hysterectomy if you don't have cancer, and it sounds like you do not. Please get a 2nd or 3rd opinion if you haven't already. I had an unnecessary TAH-BSO for a benign cyst on one ovary, so I want to help anyone I can that does not require a hyst to avoid having one. It sounds like you are not having your ovaries removed...good for you!

Re: getting close and not sleeping, ugh

My op date is 12/9/2011. I'm not sleeping either. Hence on this site again. I'm driving DH and kids insane.
I will have to endure one more cycle due tomorrow and it seems like the cramps are more intense since the upside down sonogram. Was this the case for anyone else?

Re: getting close and not sleeping, ugh

My surgery is tomorrow, also. I've taken some benadryl Saturday night and last night after insomnia for three nights. I feel so much better with a good night's sleep.
