Re: Notes from my Pre-Op Visit...

The hospital called today to go over my check in and pre-op orders. She told me nothing to eat or drink after 11:00pm since my surgery is at 7:00. No big deal, right? Right.

I'm just glad I don't have to drink the mag citrate stuff - but I bet milk of magnesia will be less than pleasant, as I have never had it. 30cc's shouldn't be too bad. (I got mint flavor).

What did the doctor say? Everyone I work with has had the flu. They've been "dropping like flies". I've been Ms. Clorox and Hand Santizer all week. My orders were for no tyelnol, aleve, asprin or motrin, along with a list of herbal products and health foods to avoid. I don't see Claritin or Zyrtec on the list (but I wouldnt take anything without checking first.) I hope he told you something you can take. We can't have you sick over the holidays, much less next Tuesday.

Hope you get plenty of rest this weekned and get to feeling better.

I teach children and there has been a case of croup (sp?) going around. My poor hands are so raw from using hand sanitizer! I'm glad to have a long weekend away from the germs over Thanksgiving. Just curious what health foods your doc told you to avoid?? Trying to keep from getting sick, I've added more fruits and veggies to my already high fruit/veggie diet. I haven't had my pre-op appointment yet, so I don't know what they are going to tell me to avoid.

Stay healthy!

Re: Notes from my Pre-Op Visit...

He gave me a list. Here are the things to avoid:

"No healthfood or herbal products, such as: beta-carotene, feverfew, fish oil, garlic, ginko, ginsing, St. John's wort or vitamin E for two to seven days prior to surgery."

I am really wishing for a couple of motrin right now. I woke up with a splitting headache. A long hot shower with some spearmint oil aroma therapy, and a cup of coffee have helped, but its still not 100 % better. I've been so busy with holiday preparations, I just realized I havent had anything to eat, so that might help. I'll try that next. I think I slept with my neck funny, so maybe I can talk DH into a massage later this afternoon. A nap after the feast is alredy scheduled.
