Sex after LAVH question

I am a very private person ab my sex life but I need some reassurance. I am 8 weeks post op and feeling pretty good. I still have my ovaries so my hormones are working great! Excited more easily than I ever have been. My DH loves it and I don't mind. We've been cleared for intercourse and we're taking it slow and easy. My question is this, I can feel him go in and it doesn't hurt but once he is there I can only feel the outside, its like my vagina is numb. Has anyone else had this issue? Will it go away? I so wanna feel things I felt before surgery. Any advice??

Tammy

I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing this issue.

There are some members who have had this issue. I don't know if there are any of them currently posting. Part of it could be that you are still in early recovery and nerves take a long time to heal.

You could talk to your dr. about it as well.

I am only 20 days out from my surgery, but just today I finally decided to investigat the odd feeling or lack there of ...and my vagina is completely numb...no feeling at all one you get in...so I am hoping this is temporary, if not, our sex life could take a big big hit!

Let me know what happens, my doctor was not very reasuring.

You are way to early post-op to go into panic mode yet.

Give yourself time to heal and are you supposed to be on pelvic rest or at least nothing in the vagina rest? That means nothing.

Re: Sex after LAVH question

Hi ladies
I am 9 weeks post op LAVH and I noticed the same thing...we waited for the dr's go-ahead, no spotting or pain and could still get aroused but I distinctly felt like I couldn't tell where my vjayjay was ending, thought maybe it was b/c DH was being extra careful b/c he's well endowed. I used to be very in touch with that particular aspect but it does feel like numbness or a lack of feeling where my cervix used to be....weird!! climax is not as strong either but was also being timid with myself so as not to have badness post coitus....now I'm feeling a little "gun shy" so to speak. Don't want to be a tease with the DH but he will have to wait a little longer before I am ready to try again.
Thanks for sharing, I don't feel so freaked out now

Re: Sex after LAVH question

Hi! I am 6 wks post op LAVH (took everything out) and I am having the same issue. I am feeling good and got the go ahead from the doctor 2 wks ago even though he said he could still see the stitches inside (he just said to take it easy). the first time I felt a numbness but attributed it to being very nervous!! The next time I still felt that weird feeling. It's like a loss of sensitivity. I am not dry and want to have sex - I too can feel him go in and be inside (sorry so graphic) it doesn't feel bad or painful but doesn't feel good like it used to either. Not sensitive like before. I never had any issues with that before! I am very upset by this situation. I have three children that I delivered vaginally and never felt like this. HELP!!!! Please advise!

Re: Sex after LAVH question

From my post-op appointment yesterday. I have a numb spot on my stomach and the doctor told me the surgery cuts through some nerves and it could take several weeks more for the nerves to grow back and the numb sensation to go away. (1 inch per month on average) I expect that can also affect the vagina - BUT don't hesitate to ask your doctor about it.

I had a 6 inch incision on my upper hip above my rear...for a surgery and my right butt cheek under the incison was numb more than 6 inches down....for a whole year. It came back the day after thanksgiving, and i said in a restaurant out loud.."hey I can feel my butt!" LOL

Be patient..it will get there.

Taurus,
I did not have any vaginal surgery, and did not have my cervix removed....just the uterus...and all done above, nothing done through the vagina...so I do not have the same restrictions as those who have vaginal collar stitching.
Those folks have to wait at least 8 weeks. Doc said I can participate without actual penetration at 2 weeks, and after my doc appt next thursday shoudl be back in business. we will see. But thanks for the concern.
