Surgery Scheduled and Nervous!

I'm scheduled for surgery on the 9th. I had my right ovary removed in Feb. so this will be the uterus and other ovary. It weird how it can be something I'm really looking forward o yet scared to death at the same time! This weekend is going to be three days of making my house spotless (hopefully DH can keep it that way until the surgery). I got on Amazon tonight and ordered the most recent seasons of four of my favorite shows (Amazon has a cool trade in program I recently found out about) and am planning to go to the library the night before the surgery to stack up on some books. Experienced ladies: 2 weeks should be enough of a recovery time to take an hour car ride on Christmas day shouldn't it? That's one of my bigger concerns - missing out on the huge Christmas gathering at my grandmothers.

Re: Surgery Scheduled and Nervous!

Hi there, you should be able to manage the car ride at two weeks post op. But you will probably find that you need to lie down while you're there and have a rest. And the journey home may be a little difficult. Wishing you a safe surgery and peaceful recovery.

Re: Surgery Scheduled and Nervous!

I agree with sugarandspice - two weeks could be pushing it post-op. A one hour cab ride may be hard to tolerate. You may also need to do a lot of sitting, instead of standing, at the party. You may also not feel like being around many people at that stage of your recovery. At least that is how I was. I really wanted to isolate it down to my DH and that was about it.

My advice is to pay attention to your body during recovery. It will let you know what you can and cannot do.

Good luck.
