Surgery Monday and mind just won't be still!!

I have LAVH on Monday and I have a million questions going on in my mind. I get to do the fun bowel prep tomorrow and my son and his family decided they wanted to come spend the day. Really? I felt bad telling them to stay home but I just need my space. I have the DH telling me he has been asking other men at work and they said its nothing...Really? I am me and I will look after me. I hate to be selfish but right now its about me. He dicided a month ago I am "sick" so sex was out of the question. That just plain honkerblonked me off. I hope he doesn't act different toward me after surgery. I have a question and I really truely don't mean to be blunt but I have been seaching the net and can't find an answer so here goes. I have a uterus and fibroid that is the size of a 6 month preg. How do they get it out vaginally? I have had a baby so I know it streaches but in my wildest imagination I just can't imagine them getting it out without it hurting something down there. I thought maybe they cut it into smaller pieces but Dr said nope. I think I have too much to think about. I seem to be worrying about silly stuff. My Dr. has won awards for his lap surgery and I have told myself that a hundred times. I am so ready to get this over and set my mind at ease.......

Mopar thinking of you today(hugs)))))) I think they cut it up,mine will be that way too, right now the plan is uterus and cervix, but have had 2 c-sections and my tubes tied, so who knows in the end what they will take..
I too have the dreaded bowel prep,I made myself some peach jello jigglers for monday, and tuesday is on to the castle.
I have been fighting a cold for the past 10 days finally called the dr yesterday afternoon and got the ok to take nyquil last night, that helped alot, hoping it stays at bay, dont want to have to postpone the surgery

Re: Surgery Monday and mind just won't be still!!

Hi I feel for you. My stress levels are up too!

I actually built up the courage to watch the procedure on YouTube and it really seems to be straight forward.. I guess although the uterus is that size, it is "empty"???

I would ask if you are unsure though..

Take care and all the best

Re: Surgery Monday and mind just won't be still!!

I am also facing the same procedure tomorrow. DR said he would remove my uterous in pieces vaginally. My nerves are a total mess. I am so nervous and my mind as well wont rest. My husband tries to calm me by saying,``they do this all the time and its no biggie.`` Well, that just irritated me. Of course it`s a biggie!! I though I had mentally prepared myself, but this morning I woke with a tummy full of butterfles. I too am beginning the bowl prep today. After the endless waiting it`s hard to believe it`s finally here. I also had to quit smoking, which is fabulous, but this has added to my anxioty as well.
Good luck to us, and know you`re not alone

I am having a TAH tomorrow, check in at 6 am. I am a wreck. I am trying to get everything prepared and I feel like I just want to hide in a corner and cry. Bowel prep starts at 2:00 today and I am not looking forward to that either. Good luck to all of you and I'm sure we'll all be in the post op discussions chatting about how much better we feel. xoxoxo

Re: Surgery Monday and mind just won't be still!!

Mopar, so sorry that your period had to start today but just think, it is the last one!! In a few days, this will be all behind you. I am scheduled for Thursday for my LSH and I know they cut up the uterus before they take it out. I have read that they can do this even if your uterus is pretty enlarged. I am hoping for no surprises and look forward to feeling a lot better soon!! Thinking of you and wishing you all the best with your surgery and recovery!! Hugs.

Mopar, my last two laps, I had a full-on period, though I was at the end of my (very last one ever) this time. I was in so much pain, but I was allowed to take a narcotic (non-NSAID-based), even the morning of my surgery.

I am sending all of you healing thoughts as you get ready. I listened to music and read a 'comfort book' in a series that I enjoy the night before and while I waiting in pre-op. You may all have separate experiences, but none of you are alone! Good luck to you, and happy healing once you're there.

I have just finished running errand for the things I will need. I ended my bcp yesterday and believe I will start my period before Tuesday. I hardly slept last night but.....I bought new Bed linens and a new pillow and plan to try them out in a few mins. I know everything will be fine, and think jitters and anxiety are normal. Good luck tomorrow!!!!!!
