Is it vaginal discharge or urinary leakage?

I'm starting to wonder if what I thought was vaginal discharge is actually urinary leakage. I really cannot tell. The color is brownish-yellowish and clear fluid, not thick. What has been the experience of you other ladies?

(((CarolMcD)))

Only your doctor can tell for sure. I had a gushing discharge start a couple of weeks post-op - clear yellowy fluid. By the time I got in to see my surgeon about 5 days after the first gush, the frequency and volume of the discharge had decreased to almost nothing. He tested what little fluid he could find in my vagina for creatinine, which would indicate if the discharge was urine. It turned out I had a seroma - pocket of abdominal fluid that had built up and escaped through my cuff.

Please check with your doctor, the expert, for confirmation of the source of your discharge.

I see my doctor next Friday, and will definitely ask him.

Re: Is it vaginal discharge or urinary leakage?

Hi Carol,

I'm having a small bit of discharge - yellowish-brown with an occasional tinge of pink. It's rarely is noticeable on the liner I wear, but does show up on on the tp. I'm thinking it's part of the healing process - some of the internal 'scabby' bits starting to dissolve and such, but will be checking with my Dr. on my Tuesday visit.

Re: Is it vaginal discharge or urinary leakage?

Hi Carol, what did your doctor say about the discharge and what did it turn out to be? I, too, am wondering about my discharge on whether there is urine in it or not, because it is a little yellower in color and thinner than before the surgery.
