Re: percacet before surgery

If you have any questions about taking any medications before surgery, call your doctor. If you can't reach your doctor, call your pharmacist and ask if you can take percocet before surgery. If it's too late to reach either of them, call the ER and ask to speak to the doctor on call.

Re: percacet before surgery

I have Lupus and my gyn/oncologist assured me narcotic pain killers are fine to take before surg. You may want to ask your doc just in case. But they have a short half life so it should be fine.

Re: percacet before surgery

(((mopar06))) Please ask your doctor before taking the Percocet. It is probably going to be OK - the pain meds that tend to be more of a problem before surgery are the ones that contain aspirin or ibuprofen - but you never know how your own doctor will feel about it unless you ask, and you don't want to have your surgery cancelled because you second guessed him/her and made the wrong decision.

In any case, even if your doctor says it's OK, make sure the anesthesiologist who is handling your surgery knows you have been taking Percocet as it can affect their decisions about anesthesia and pain meds during surgery.
