Surgery in 1 week 1 day...kinda nervous

Hi and this is my first post...well besides on the intro page My surgery is on December 6th. I had my preop last Tuesday and it went okay. My doctor wanted to get one last pap, but couldn't because of my fibroid. I'm scheduled for a LAVH, but there is a very good possibility that she will have to do it abdominally because of the position and size of my wonderful fibroid that is in my cervix. I'm very nervous, but also exited to move on. Then over the last couple of being the worst.....I have a cold. I've waited three months for this surgery and am hoping and praying that this cold doesn't get worse and we can still go through with it. We got our Christmas decorations up this weekend and I'm going to work on cleaning up the house. So, hopefully I'll be able to relax and become calmer.....soon

Chin up, Trigl!
I'm going in tomorrow, and the only thing keeping me sane is staying busy and surfing the message boards. Decorating done. Housework - mostly done (washing sheets and fixing up my "nest").
Everyone says the wait is the worst part, and I hope they are right.

My advice? Take a long hot bubble bath (if you're into that sort of thing) now, while you still can. Take a nap. Take a walk. Take a break - what ever you need. There's no pressure to be perfect. It's all gud.

Best of luck!

Hey there, trigl!

My surgery date is the same as yours! My pre-op is tomorrow, and I have so many questions for my gyn! Isn't this a wonderful website?

What are some concerns about post-op that are on your mind? One of my worries (may as well call it what it is!) is getting up and down and in and out of bed. I had a laproscopic gallbladder surgery 4 years was very, very painful. I could hardly breathe without pain. It was a real production to get me up from any chair. I had to sleep in my recliner because I couldn't get comfortable in bed! It didn't help things at all that I was at my heaviest poor husband and sons had to haul me up like a big ole sack of potatoes! Just wondering if it will be as bad....

I am concerned about pain control, too. I had a c-section 25 years ago with my twins, which left a huge vertical scar. I must have had 30 evil staples in that incision.....a whole new kind of pain for a brand new mom!!
I hope pain control is better 25 yrs down the road...Have you discussed pain control with your doc?

I am sorry to have offered no helpful advice, but I am so nervous myself!! Praying that we both have successful surgeries come next week!!
