talk to anesthesiaologist

When do I speak with anesthesia? My doc said that they would call before. As I am now just over 31 hours to surgery, should I worry? I have had preop w doc and go to hospital preop ib the morning.

Re: talk to anesthesiaologist

I believe you speak to them on the day of your surgery right before you go to the operating room. They will come in to see you while you are waiting and ask you some questions and then they will explain what they are going to do. Good luck. No Worries, it will be fine!

Re: talk to anesthesiaologist

It depends on how it works at your hospital... at mine, the anesthesiologist is not assigned until the day before surgery (they work for an outside partnership rather than being employees of the hospital). I always request at my Pre Op appointment to talk with the anesthesiologist before the surgery, and they've always called me at home the evening before surgery. If you're worried that you might not get the call, you could call the hospital and ask what the usual timing is for them to call you.

Good luck with your surgery!

Re: talk to anesthesiaologist

P.S. I actually have to call my hospital for my arrival time on Thursday. I thought that was funny! So much for waiting for that call! Hope I don't forget, lol.
