Re: Packing for the Castle - a "complete" list

Along with your list I brought make up cleansing towelettes. They allowed me to freshen up in a horizontal position (in bed, lol).

Good luck to you!

Re: Packing for the Castle - a "complete" list

Thank you for sharing your list with us. I'm scheduled for surgery on 12/28. And didn't give much thought yet of what I would need. Think I'm still in "shock" mode. Are there any suggestions as to what to have on hand at home after surgery?

I never even opened my bag at the hospital till it was time to leave. I waited till I got home to take a shower. The hospital had a hospitality bag with lip balm and lotion, toothbrush and toothpaste, and all I used was the lip balm. I was glad to have my my own pillow.

Re: Packing for the Castle - a "complete" list

I did not bring anything to read or robe/slippers. Would not have needed them. Didn't bring vitamins, calcium or deodorant.

I brought saline nasal spray but didn't use it. Didn't want to blow my nose (& luckily didn't need to) It would have been uncomfortable w/incisions. It was uncomfortable to cough, sneeze or laugh

I really needed ear plugs & eye mask. I did use eye drops & chapstick. I used the pads supplied by hosp and had my own at home.

They gave me RX for Colace (as well as painkillers) and I did take the Colace at home.

Also REALLY needed Gas X for gas in stomach. I never got the gas from CO2 (shoulders).

If you're wearing your eyeglasses to the hospital it's easy to forget the case and you do need it.

I got larger underwear and larger pants with drawstring top...I found some WITHOUT ELASTIC... which was recommended so they can be as loose as needed. Surprised that altho I'm wearing them I could get buy with my regular clothes. I have no swelly belly. I'm 12 days out and have been eating more fattening food because I said no diet for the first 2 wks...even so I'm a few lbs lighter than I was before.
