There is another thread with women still having the swelling at 16 months! I really hope it doesn't stay that long for me I'm so done with this.

I did have quite a bit of surgery. It was to be done lapro but they hit a vessel and had to do a TAH instead. I have quite a large vertical incision. And they had to move a lot of my organs to find & stop the bleed. It was actually quite an ordeal that landed me in the ICU with a few blood transfusions. Maybe that's why I still have my upper swelly belly.

Re: Sisters : What's the real scoop on the swelly belly?

I am in week 8 and still have the swelly belly but mine is high, from my breast bone down to my belly button. Its certainly frustrating.

I am feeling fairly well otherwise. I have a 5 cm cyst that has grown on my left ovary since my surgery. Hopefully it goes away on its own...if not then surgery again

Saw this on another site:

What should your belly look like?
Slight abdominal swelling is normal and may last as long as 6-8 weeks. If your belly is getting distended, hard and tender, there may be a problem. Nausea and vomiting are also indications that something is amiss and your doctor should be notified.

Re: Sisters : What's the real scoop on the swelly belly?

Wow, kcdoodle, good for for getting your jeans on! Your very brave! I just feel comfortable in my jammies; my jammies r my new best friend. I couldnt imagine putting regular jeans on; my tummy is just too sore and swelled. Im 9 days post op LAVH, and im still get so tired and sore, and the emotions are up and down. I feel good today, and hopefully i will feel good tomorrow. Does anyone take hormone therapy? If so, what kind? I heard they have bad side effects. Its kind of confusing, any info will be appreciated. Thanks.
