Re: SLEEP....Where have you gone?

Geez! I wish I knew that so many others were up! I would've called! Lol.....

I have always been a great sleeper!!! Like a rock!! 8 hours, every night.

Now? I finally fall asleep between 11- midnight... (still only on my back because it's too painful to sleep on my sides). Did I mention I'm a SIDE sleeper?? ugh...

I'm up at 3, sometimes 4...... I go down and make coffee because I know that's the end of it for me. I hate laying there staring at the pitch black ceiling. I want to cry. I'm so tired but yet, like you, I'm up!!

Misery loves company...... Glad to hear that it's not just me!!

Hoping for sweet dreams tonight........but I doubt it! Sorry for all of us tired sisters........ Zzzzzzzzzz......

Re: SLEEP....Where have you gone?

I didn't sleep through the night the entire 6 weeks I was off work. I too woke up every couple hours. The first time I did, was when I went back to work..that's all it took was to be mentally worn out by the end of the day!!!

Re: SLEEP....Where have you gone?

Oh Dear!

I am 4 weeks post op and I have been experiencing this since about 10 days post op. I am sat here now and am so tired but am not wanting to go to bed just yet for fear that I will be awake again at midnight and up from then. Its currently 7.35pm.

I am 41 and had a complete hysterectomy. I have no girly bits left. I have tried going for a walk before bed thinking that may help. I have tried reading before going to sleep, have tried not drinking coffee and a few other things. I am thinking I may have to speak to my Dr in order to get a mild sedative so I can get some hopefully uninterrupted sleep. I normally take a while to get to sleep then wake about 7-8 times a night. I am still wearing those delightful compression stockings too so that makes my legs so hot! My Gyn told me to wear them for 6 weeks. Only 2 to go! YAY!! I seem to be worrying needlessly about going back to work, but I enjoy my job so why is my mind making me worry about it?

I wonder how my partner puts up with me tossing and turning sometimes but he is a patient man thank goodness. Even tho I am not having the sweats I do seem to be duvet on, duvet off a lot during the night. A lot of that is to do with these stockings

Thanks ladies and good luck with the recoveries.

Take care x

Re: SLEEP....Where have you gone?

Mz Mocha28 I am having the same thing happening to me! And when I finally wake up I have wasted another day and then I feel crappy bc all my time is gone and I am up all night again. I am so frustrated so maybe I will try the benedryl and see if that works...

Re: SLEEP....Where have you gone?

I tried melatonin last night. I was able to sleep for a few hours but was still awake by 12:30. Maybe I need to take more...I was worried about taking it during the night and be groggy this morning - but at least I might have gotten some sleep! Often when I take Benedryl at night I get restless and "jumpy" and can't sleep. How much melatonin do you need to get thru the night?

Re: SLEEP....Where have you gone?

Its funny reading about the Benedryl because in NZ Benedryl is a cough mixture. I was in the beginning wondering why people were taking cough mixture to help them sleep, altho I guess if I took enough it would definitely have a sedating effect haha!

On a positive note I only woke twice last night but I think it was partly because I was so tired that my body prob needed to catch up. Ive had 3 weeks of not a lot of sleep and to be honest I have not slept well since July due to anxiety around my surgeries and wondering what my future held.

Have a great day ladies and take care. x

Re: SLEEP....Where have you gone?

As I mentioned before I took benedryl before bed and I sleep like a baby. It takes about an hour to work for me............My dr also mentioned unisom. It has really helped me becoz i feel well rested and not walking around like a zombie. Sweet dreams ladies

Re: SLEEP....Where have you gone?

Well ladies, last night I tried Melatonin and I have to say it worked. Each pill is 5 mg and I took two, it felt so good to sleep through the night without any issues. I bought it at Walgreens its my Nature Made but there are many other companies that sell it to but its at Walgreens, CVS, Walmart, Target. I didnt want to take the benedryl due to it would start to cost alot if I cant go to sleep on my own. I am due to go back to work in two weeks and I cant afford to keep buying it. The Melatonin by Nature's Made was on sale at Walgreens buy one get one free, so I think I am set for awhile until my body gets use to my work hours.

I have am only taking 1 mg tablets and I am increasing by 1 mg each night to see how much to take without being groggy the next morning. 1 tablet barely got me me thru 2 hours of sleep. 2 tablets were better ... I woke up often - but could also fall asleep again so at least I got better sleep than I have been getting over the past few weeks. Did the 10 mg leave you feeling groggy at all the next morning?
