New and in Edmonton - on waiting list for surgery (kids mentioned)

Hi Sisters!

I am on the waiting list for my surgery. My doctor told me anywhere from 2-6 months for my wait but on average 2-3 months.

I'm scared, worried and relieved. My issue with finally be over but since this will be my second surgery, first was removal of my appendix (10.31.09) and I had a horrible experience I am very scared.

Basically what happened was I started to have a panic attack when they were "tying me up" for the surgery and they "gave me something to calm down". Next thing I know the room looked like I was under water and everything went black.

Did I mention I was only 3 weeks pregnant?

I woke up not being able to talk and no one was understanding why I kept whispering (trying to yell) "am I bleeding?". It took a pregnant nurse to look at my chart, push the other 5 nurses who where trying to calm me down and whip my vaginal area to show me that I was not bleeding, meaning baby was safe.

So as you can see, because of that and every other reason to be scared, I am terrified.

Yes I know more now, but that is not alleviating the fear. I am not sleeping well, having panic attacks and not feeling up to eating.

I know fear is normal with this, and for some reason everyone accept my DH seem to think its because I will feel like less of a woman, which isn't it at all. My mom had everything removed at 26 (I'm 25 BTW) and did that make her less of a woman, no. So where all my friends and family get that idea that I feel like that I do not know.

Anyway I just wanted to say hello, sorry to ramble.

Hi Ladymouse..Sorry to hear you are having such a hard time...I had my appendix out on New Years Eve, 1987....and I had infection afterward, and was very sick..So I know a little about not feeling too good, after surgery...I did have a tubal done in 70's but it was nothing like that..I had my surgery the day before my 50th. birthday...(something about doing things on important days..) LOL..But I was on a waiting list, and had to do it, then..It can be very stressful, for sure..But you will feel so much better in the long run...And it does't make you any less a woman!! that's for sure!
I wish you all the best and a healthy outcome...Take care ...
