Breast Cancer & ERT Concerns

I had my mammogram on 11/11/11 and a week later they called me and said they saw something and scheduled me to come back. When I went back they took about 12 additional pictures of my left breast and did an ultrasound. The doctor said that there is a mass in my left breast about 1 cm and they need to do a biopsy. The doctor and the nurse seems confident that it will be benign. I am scheduled for surgery on 12/14/11 and both ovaries are being removed. My concern is should I take the ERT since it could increasing my risk of breast cancer?

Re: Breast Cancer & ERT Concerns

Estrogen-only HRT does not increase your risk of breast cancer. It can encourage existing cancers to grow if they are estrogen receptor positive, but it doesn't cause them. The results of your biopsy will be a good guide as to which way to go. I'm keeping my that it comes back benign!
