I'm worried. Will this make me less of a lady?

My surgery is in a couple days (dec 9 2011). I'm worried my husband won't feel this same as he does now. Will this affect my realations? How long will it take to recover? So many questions in so little time. I want to be strong for my family but at night I cry myself to sleep with racing thoughts.

Re: I'm worried. Will this make me less of a lady?

I have never seen a guy wonder about the woman in his life due to her uterus being intact or not. If your hubby loves you there is nothing to worry about. Obviously there are issues that require you to have a hysterectomy and Im sure your hubby wants to support you and make sure you have what you need (even if it means the removal of your uterus)

Try to focus more on the good that this procedure will bring. I am OVER the moon about having had this procedure because its going to make me happier and thats just what my DUDE wants for me. I had my surgery on Nov 3rd and going back to work on Dec 13Th; in all honesty I could have easily gone back to work at the 2-3 week mark but I wanted to enjoy the time off. No worries we are here for you and all will be well.

Re: I'm worried. Will this make me less of a lady?

Hi! My surgery date is the same as yours (12/09/11), and I have had the same concerns.

I am 32 now my husband and I have been married for 12 years. I spoke to my husband about this exact topic. His response was "It doesn't mean that you are no longer a woman, just that you can no longer carry babies." For me, this was exactly what I needed to hear. From his comment, I understood that he was saying that he would not really look at me any differently... That it would have been the same if I had just had my tubes tied.

My suggestion is to talk to your husband about it and ask him what he thinks. The answer you get may surprise you, and hopefully will put your mind at ease.

Definitely talk to him. I was freaking out about the same thing and when I finally worked up the courage to talk to my fiance, I realized I'd been worrying for nothing. It is scary, but we're all in it together here! Hang in there.
