24 hours until I know

Hi everyone, my name is Shantel & I am 25 years old. I have had abnormal high risk cancer cells on my cervix off and on but mostly on since I was 14. Every three months the waiting to hear if it is gone, and the anxiety kills me. I have had so many procedures done on my cervix it's unreal. Most of which were wide awake, with no medications (yuck). I also have a history of cysts, and very high risk pregnancies. I lost my first born son at birth, and almost lost my daughter as well. I went in last Friday asking for a pap because I was showing symptoms that the cancer cells were back. During the appointment my doctor found a growth on my cervix and had to do an emergency biopsy. That was my final straw! I didn't care what the results where anymore, I decided it was time for a hysterectomy. If ever it goes undetected, and spreads I am a goner. I have a 20 month old son, and a eight month old daughter to worry about. I felt like this was no longer an option for me. So I made an appointment with the same GYN my Mom had do hers (as she is known for doing them even on the young) and I see her in the morning. I have no clue what to expect, but I know in my heart this is the right choice for myself and my family. I am also checking into doing a tummy tuck (if I can afford it) at the same time, as a gift to myself Again I don't know what to expect... but I am ready for this. The doctor got all my medical records (but a large amount of them are missing thanks to the doctor that I had when my son died) so now I have to fight to get this done.

Re: 24 hours until I know

I hope things work out for you. I'm glad you found a dr. who'll do surgery on someone so young. So many of them won't regardless of what is going on. I think it's ridiculous that they think you're not smart enough to have considered everything and made a decision based on your quality of life, or in your case, your life period.

Re: 24 hours until I know

I hope the new doctor thinks about you not your age. You have 2 children who need you around. I had the dysplasia a few years ago and it is scary wondering if its going to return. Best wishes to you.
