Help with HRT

I am 3 weeks post op today. I started on 1mg of estradiol in the recovery room. I have had horrible symptoms. On about about day 6 I talked to the Dr. (actually cried) about all of my symptoms. We went to 1.5 mg of Estradiol.

I have been feeling great on this amount until I went to work on Mon and Tuesday. By Tuesday night the symptoms were increasing. By Wed morning I couldn't get out of bed because of the headache, nausea and uncontrollable crying. By the even I wanted to die (even told my DH that). Thur morning it is even worse than ever. I have been being treated for depression and anxiety for years and nothing compares to how I was feeling. I really felt like I should end everything.

I called my Dr. at home again and we talked for over 40 minutes. He had me take 1mg of estradiol while on the phone and another 2 mg at bedtime. After taking it I felt a lot better.

This morning I feel a little better but I feel like the estrogen is wearing off. I don't even know if that is possible. I am supposed to call my dr this morning and we will talk again. I guess my question is all of this really hormones? Am I just really going crazy and if not what will fix it?

Re: Help with HRT

During the initial weeks/months post op after ovary removal you could have fluctuating hormone levels as your body recovers from surgery and uses up its stored reserves of hormones. It is not unusual to feel good one day, than not so much the next.

It may take some time and patience for things to level out.
