Insomnia 5 days from surgery

Hello all,

I'm hoping it isn't the case, but I appear to be suffering from insomnia now, on top of everything else. I've been up (off and on) since 240 this morning. I fell asleep just fine. Any ideas?

Re: Insomnia 5 days from surgery

Nerves, at least thats my problem, I have never had trouble sleeping and now I find myself up super early and unable to fall back asleep. Example today- up at 5am on a Saturday!! My surgery is Friday.

Re: Insomnia 5 days from surgery

My dr. said she could prescribe sleeping pills if that was a problem. I normally take melatonin to help me sleep.

I've been doing ok so I haven't asked. It's getting to be a little harder to go to sleep. I think it helps that I started my period and feel so bad that I get tired easily.

Re: Insomnia 5 days from surgery

Thanks, I hope you get rest too! The lack of sleep is not helping my emotional state much either, I feel weepy and cranky along with anxious and tired...oh boy! This time next week it will all be done for both of us and we will be home in our beds recovering

Re: Insomnia 5 days from surgery

Same here with the sleep. Doc gave me some pills and I used it once so far and felt wonderful the next day. It's gotta be nerves cause I never, never have trouble falling asleep! I plan on using one of them blue pills tonight. I didn't last night and got 1 hour of sleep all night. Surgery is on Monday and can't wait for this wait to be over....

Re: Insomnia 5 days from surgery

Ugghhh! How are we suppose to stay emotionally ok and prepared for our surgery when we are so tired! Is it too much to ask for a full night's sleep (or 3). I'm going crazy here and am pretty sure I'm driving everyone around me there too.
But alas, In 3 days I will be getting a whole heap of sleep. Can't wait.

Wow, we are truly all in the same boat!! I know not sleeping is making everything worse. I didn't sleep again last night very well. I do believe I'll be making a call to the MD first thing in the morning and asking for something!
