Heartburn 9 weeks post op!

Is anyone else having terrible heartburn since surgery? I had everything removed and am not taking any HRT. I have not had heartburn since I was pregnant 21years ago. Spicy foods have never bothered me and I love them. Don't know whay could be causing this. Had gallbladder out 16years ago also. Could this be due to lack of hormones?

Re: Heartburn 9 weeks post op!

I had terrible problems because of all the ibuprofen I took in the first month and wound up with an ulcer. It took a really long time for my digestive system back on track. I would suggest checking in with your primary care physician.

Re: Heartburn 9 weeks post op!

I haven't taken anything but cold medicine this week. If it keeps up I will call and get an appt. Thank you for your input.

Re: Heartburn 9 weeks post op!

Only just seen your posting. Yes, I have suddenly developed this really strong acid relux - all foods seem to ignite it, sore throat, croaky voice and that tight chest thing. Its horrid! never been a candidate for ulcers, this sympton just dropped out of the sky. No remedies seem to work - very fed up.

Re: Heartburn 9 weeks post op!

It may also be related to spending more time lying down, but this is definitely not my area of expertise. As I said, my primary care physician was really helpful. I'm still taking Zantac to help the stomach heal.

Re: Heartburn 9 weeks post op!

I did find OTC generic Zantac at 150mg was the only thing that has helped. I am back to my normal routines and work, definitely don' t get to lie down much except to sleep.
Gnorm...sorry to hear you have it too. Seems yours may be a little worse with the sore throat and voice. I am really glad I had the surgery, but don't like these side effects and hope the heartburn problem doesn't get any worse.
Thanks to you all for posting!! It does help to know if others are going through the same things and for any input on what might help.
God bless and have a Merry Christmas!
