HRT Wiley Protocol - anyone using this post cancer and hysterectomy?

Hi People,

I've had ovarian cancer and am about to get a hysterectomy.

I have been doing the Wiley Protocol HRT program for the past few months and feeling great.

My oncologist said that for HRT, she wasn't sure about me using something bio-identical given it hasn't been clinically tested in terms of the estrogen's impact on tumours.

However, there are so many things I enjoy about the Wiley Protocol and I'm concerned about using synthetic estrogen.

Anyone else have any experience or insights into this?

:-)

Re: HRT Wiley Protocol - anyone using this post cancer and hysterectomy?

IMHO, the Wiley Protocol, in women whose ovaries have been removed, is a prescription for failure. I've never heard of a woman who was able to stay on it a long time and feel great. It is designed for women with ovaries who must cycle their hormones; without ovaries, it sets you up for almost constant hot flashes, headaches and other symptoms of wild hormone fluctuations.

There are many options outside of synthetic estrogen that do not involve the Wiley Protocol. I've been happily using bio-identical estradiol in the form of the Vivelle-dot patch for almost ten years now.

s,
-Linda

Hi Gaia Rose, if you don't mind me asking, what kind of doses do you use for your estrogen and progesterone? Have you been using creams?

I'm doing a half dose of Wiley Protocol (which equates to half of the hormones that normal ovaries would produce). I still have half an ovary at the moment. They are creams that I apply, yes. :-)

Thank you for your reply. I'm going to speak to my doctor about what is the best option after a hysterectomy. :-)
