Surgery table incline?

Greetings, Ladies!

I will be on here a LOT this week; my surgery date is one week from tomorrow and I'm getting a tad nervous. This site never ceases to inspire and amaze me, though--I've learned so much!

I just read about the surgical table being on an incline during surgery and this makes sense for a vaginal--I'm having a TLH so will the table be flat? Or is incline a normal position for most types of hysterectomies?

Guess if I'm "out" I won't care, but it's nice to know. I get a bad headache when in a reclining position like that, so I guess if I wake up with a whopper of a headache, I will know a probable cause. LOL I am also hyper-sensitive about my "overhang" of skin from 3 c-sections and losing 90 lbs. (and then gaining, and then Wanted to have a panniculectomy (sp.?) done but nah, decided one pain at a time was enough. LOL

Thanks ladies!

Re: Surgery table incline?

The incline is between 20º - 30º and I think it depends on the surgeon and circumstances. It makes sense as it helps to get the upper organs out of the way and make surgery easier.

If this is a big concern for you because of headaches, discuss it with your doctor at your pre-op. If you've already had your pre-op, give him/her a call to relay your concerns.
