Re: Anyone else have to wear the tight hospital

This must be a very individual thing depending on a lot of factors not related to the hysterectomy as such (perhaps!)

I had major surgery but only had to wear them while in hospital (5 days).
Was told that once I was at home and up and about I wouldn't need them.
But I WAS fit, pre-op., no circulation problems, low cholesterol, BP, etc... which may or may not be relevant.

I'd have hated to wear them any longer, so I sympathise!!

6 weeks, uggh!! I was shocked about 2...but I won't complain anymore, knowing it could be worse. Well, here's to our toes poking through the holes for a bit longer!

While in hospital for two days they had these Velcro type stockings that puffed up and massage my legs but they got super tight like blood pressure cuffed do right before it starts to deflate like every five min or so. Yikes! I cried the first couple of cycles. But they said it help keep blood clots to a minimal. But I didn't have to go home with any. But I was afraid I had my legs massaged often my first week home as aprecaution.

I wore those, too, while in the hospital. They went over the tight anti-embolism stockings, which I am still wearing. Itchy, hot, tight, toes popping out of the hole annoyance wear. Oh wait, I said I wouldn't complain anymore. Oops.

Re: Anyone else have to wear the tight hospital

Yeah, I just had the compression things, but nothing at home. I was a little worried taking a plane because of the DVT issue, but others on the boards said I should be OK and I was fine.
