Re: can I walk up stairs to 2nd floor the day after surgery

I was SO surprised that the Dr said I could take on my stairs. I didn't believe him. I even ordered a hospital bed for the living room and a camod chair (Never used the chair - it turned out to be an additional side table lol). I took on the stairs right away. Not too much pain. I was definitely slow, cautious & achy but really surprised. You should be fine - as long as you are not doing numerous laps up & down ;-)

My doc encourages it in moderation; however, your doc should be giving you this info. I'd either put a call in or ask at your pre-op.

Re: can I walk up stairs to 2nd floor the day after surgery

My main floor is on the second floor and my bedroom is on the third floor, my dr said I could do stairs and it's been fine. I haven't left the house since I came home on sat and I only go up to my room at night and then back down in the morn.

Re: can I walk up stairs to 2nd floor the day after surgery

My doctor told me I can do stairs, SLOWLY. I still prepared the small room on the main level. I figured for the first few nights I would be more comfortable there.

My apartment is on the second floor and my doctor instructed me to walk up the stairs backwards and slowly.

I have walked up and down the stairs without trouble since coming home 2 days post op. Now, yesterday I was feeling pretty good so went up and down quite a few times...today I'm wiped. I think I overdid it a bit. Remind ourselves that even feeling good and looking good outwardly, our insides are still healing and need caring treatment. Boredom makes me want tondo more than I know I should and I feel ok. Take care, and take the stairs as necessary only, for awhile.

I was able to walk up and down the stairs the day after. I tried not to do it too much but it did not hurt and I took it slow...
